Steve Bug - Collaboratory Remixes Vol.1 [Poker Flat Recordings 109A Promo]

Poker Flat Recordings are serving the first of two remix packages accompanying Steve Bug's great album "Collaboratory" these days with their cat.no. 109A, while part two will be numbered as 109B. On rework duties are Ribn, Motor City Drum Ensemble and Sven Tasnadi who are all catching up on the quality House vibes delivered on Mr. Bug's longplayer. Ribn's version of "Like It Should Be" is quite epic and emphasizes the beauty of Gigi's enlightening vocals, whilst Motor City Drum Ensemble transforms the collaboratory work of Steve Bug & Donnacha Costello named "Still Music" into a deep chicago'esque monster with oldskool'ish basslines and a classic Acid House influences - defo the strongest track on this 12". Finally we have Sven Tasnadi's rework of "Passing Clouds" on B2, originally written and produced by Steve Bug & Simon Flower, a functional, whirring piece of percussive TechHouse providing thrills due to a combination of latin drums, a free floating main theme, uplifting stabs and male vocal samples. Defo a good one.

Sascha Müller - Schleichfahrt E.P. [Super 6 Records 046.5]

Fresh on Super 6 Records as their cat.no. 046.5 - sic! - is Sascha Müller's "Schleichfahrt E.P." which is recommended to all those being in love with solid hard bangin' Techno music. All three tracks featured on this one are hyper-energetic and pure peak time material for jocks and crowds who really love their 140+ bpm. Need proof? Check out "Neostatic" with its epic, upliftin bassline.

F Caste - Dark Dream E.P. [Pharmacom Records 056]

Cat.no. of Pharmacom Records is F Caste's "Dark Dream E.P." , a three tracker to be filed under the flag of Experimental Drum'n'Bass that plays around with drumset timings and bar lengths. It seems like most of the percussion is somehow out of tune or at least not 100% synced with the melodic structures but one's not able to get what's exactly happening here. Not my cup of tea.

Wolfgang Raspe - Nu Craft E.P. [Super 6 Goodies 061]

Fresh from the Super 6 Goodies-stable is Wolfgang Raspe's "Nu Craft E.P." and this is one of the rare pieces of music I simply don't get, no matter how often I listen to one of these three tracks I still don't know what to make of each of them. Clearly it is electronic musik, made to dance, maybe influenced by Detroit and UK Funky alike, playing around with several frequencies, killing them at times and serving a raw and uncut attitude. I'm feeling puzzled by this one.

Sascha Müller - Earth On Acid E.P. [Säurebad Records 018]

Label head Sascha Müller is back on his very own Säurebad Records-imprint, serving three brand new tunes with his "Earth On Acid E.P.". Named like this there's no questions about what kind of music is delivered here - of coze it's Acid, ever evolving, functional, monotonous and hypnotic. For true Acid heads only.

Graffiti Mechanism - Xik E.P. [Super 6 Records 046]

Fresh on Super 6 Records is the "Xik E.P.", written and produced by an artist named Graffiti Mechanism which eplores the realms of deep, slightly Trance-influenced ArmchairTechno within the Original Mix. Label head Sascha Müller turns the whole thing into a hypnotic piece of deep AcidTrance whilst the additional bonus track "Shortcut" is on a chill, melodic vibe again.

Derex - Digital Sin [Super 6 Goodies 060]

Forthcoming via Super 6 Goodies is the labels cat.no. 060, Derex' "Digital Sin". Three versions are to be found here - the Original Mix, which starts quite ravey but features ultra-fast bassdrums that might be well fitting in the SpeedCore-niche of Hardcore-related underground music and somehow remind me of early Thunderdome compilations, while the so-called Ambient Mix turns out to be a 14+ minutes long, uplifting HardHouse / Trance-tune that can only be called Ambient when compared to the original. Finally, there's the 301bpm Mix - probably as fast as its title suggests, a bit too hectic for me and sounding like listening to old tapes on ffwd. But still, this one is interesting and due to that checkworthy.

Detroit Grand Pubahs - BUttFUnkula & The Remixes From Earth (The Album) [Detelefunk Promo]

Shortly after putting out the first 12" with three selected remixes of their new album "BUttFUnkula and The Remixes From Earth" the new longplayer has finally arrived and shows the work of Detroit Grand Pubahs seen through the eyes of, heard through the ears of and reworked by a wide range of highly ranked electronic dance music artists including the likes of Alexander Robotnick, DJ Godfather, Ectomorph, Steve Bug, Aux 88, Deetron and many others. The results are stunning - it seems like every single artist on remix duties crafted hard to deliver their very best, no matter if the reworks focus on DetroitTechno, Electro purism or TechHouse. This one is not the one to miss if u're in love with Techno music. File under: essential.

Wolfgang Raspe - Ambient Sumpf [Pharmacom Records 055]

Due for release via Pharmacom Records is Wolfgang Raspe's latest album named "Ambient Sumpf" which contains at least ten tracks to be filed under the flag of classic Ambient / Deep Listening Music that perfectly reflect what this genre once meant and still should mean although it seems like it's almost gone for clubbers of today. A club who plays music like this on the second floor or in its chill room would be one I'd regularly attend for sure. Quality.

Mohna - 1985-1994 [Sunday Service Promo]

Fresh on the release circuit via Sunday Service is Mohna's debut album "1985-1994", a gentle thirteen track piece somewhat in between the prepared piano variations of Hauschka and Björk in her most fragile moments. Quite surprising to those only being aware of Mona Steinwidder's work in Me Succeeds, a band building bridges between Indie attitude and electronic dancefloors, but to be loved by many others - especially by all them people who like to celebrate their most inner autumnal thoughts with a bottle of quality wine in front of an open fire. Intimate music for thoughtful people.

Sascha Müller - The Wall Street Casino [Pharmacom Records]

I know it seems quite unfair to review a collectors item that most of you readers will never even see or come close to in your life but this limited to 30 pieces lath cut 5" by Sascha Müller is defo worth to hunt it down - not only for the cover artwork which includes expired classic company stocks but also for the music. One side features a field recordings locked groove of a cash machine working while the flip is a nice and decent piece of Electronica that will be loved by fans of Funkstörung, Autechre, Michael Fakesch or Skam Records. Advanced niceness for those who know - even getting better when one gets the basic message included.

Ghetto B-Boyz -Acid Loops I [Säurebad Records 017]

All those lovin' long, hypnotic and slightly monotonous Acid tracks are recommended to check out the latest release of Säurebad Records, which is "Acid Loopz I" by Ghetto B-Boyz. Both tunes are ever-evolving, endless modulations of partly squeaking 303 sounds - easily to be identified as MonoAcid stylewise. Tool'ish but good.

Stimming - Buxton Pipes [Audiomatique Recordings 037 Promo]

Soon to come via Audiomatique Recordings as their cat.no. 037 is Stimming's brand new three track E.P. "Buxton Pipes", who acts on a pumping, reduced level of House music here and even features some percussive, slightly tribal - /latino'esque elements, all carefully processed, filtered and distorted plus featuring a few of these ethnic chants and samples of natural non-electronic instruments that became popular within the MicroHouse-scene in the last year. Not exactly my cup of tea, but good for all who love this kind of style.

Martin Landsky - We Are Streaking [Poker Flat Recordings 108 Promo]

If we were in 1993 or 1994 the description for Martin Landsky's forthcoming track "We Are Streaking" on Poker Flat would've been Intelligent Techno as it comes with a deep appeal, pumping, warm bass notes, ever evolving synth sounds and a floating theme that might even recall Mark Reeder's term of HypnoTrance - of course transferred into 2009. Flipside featured tune "Personal Decay" is on a cleaner, more electronic sounding tip soundwise and serves some bouny, clonking bass accompanied by uplifting strings - a tune that's well fitting for being the first pre-primetime peak of the night.

David Durango - Perfect Day [Dessous Recordings 090 Promo]

Fresh on Dessous Recordings is David Durango's newest outing "Perfect Day" accompanied by "Juegos Fantasticos" and a remix of the title track by Matthias Meyer of Liebe*Detail-fame. Both original offerings are on a decent, melodic DeepHouse-tip with loads of sparkling sounds and nice calming strings - perfect tracks for groovin' in or even late night sets in small kitschy venues for those who know, whilst Matthias Meyer's rework serves a more uplifting feel, due to the use of a deeply pumping bassdrum and an ethnic, tribal drum-loop repeating over and over again. Some seductive vocal snippets on top and sparse sound spillings here and there are enough to turn this one into a multifunctional tool to be found in cases of House- as well as Minimal-jocks alike. Nice.

Moonbootica - The Ease [Moonbootique Records 036 Test Press]

Forthcoming on Moonbootica's Moonbootique-imprint is "The Ease", which was originally meant as exclusive feature track on their l8test mix compilation outing "Save The Night!" but finally made it onto vinyl now. Four different versions are featured here, all working well for the ElectroHouse massive. Apart from the Original Version there are remix servings by Chris Krawall, Dada Life and the hype of late Fukkk Offf to be found on this 12" of which the last mentioned delivers the best due to its slightly acidic but still pumping arrangement but all other versions will be appreciated by primetime jocks as well. If u roll wiv this kind of sound make sure to check this one out.

Music For Your Heart - Turning Marvel [Sunday Service Promo]

Plenty has been said, sung and done in the field of Singer-/Songwriter music which is probably the oldest genre in popular music at all - regarding the fact that mankind was sitting around campfires for ages. So there's no surprise that there ain't much of a musical innovation to be found on "Turning Marvel", the debut album of Sandra Zettpunkt a.k.a. Music For Your Heart , former member of bands like Fünf Freunde, Camping and Kajak which has been released via Sunday Service these days. But still, although there's not much new here, this one is a nice and intimate album with sparse instrumentation, bit by bit played by Sandra herself apart from a few bass figures by Volker Zander of Calexico-fame, all recorded by Raymond McGinley of Teenage Fanclub and mastered by Bob Weston of Shellac. A wide network spun within years in which Sandra Z., apart from playing in bands, worked as radio DJ & presenter in her own Sunday Service-show which she shared with her brother which whom she is as well running the Sunday Service-imprint plus her own solo show "Golden Glades" broadcasted via Byte.FM. The result is a good, autumnal one that is hopefully to be recognized and well appreciated by a wider audience.

Kitty Kat - Heiss [Universal]

This 12" by german ElectroRap artist Kitty Kat sitting in my P.O. box on friday was quite a surprise, coze a rough ElectroHouse of this one was already featured on AGGROPROMO 001 put out on the circuit in september 2008 and I'd never thought it would see a release as proper single one year l8r. But anyway, it's out now and a proper club tool for sure, dealing with Flat Eric'esque basslines accompanied by Kitty's seductive sounding raps, some nice hookline sounds and even some sampled electric guitars. Already club proved throughout the latest Plutonium Pogo-tour which took place last weekend and due to that recommended. Best version to be found here: the "Avantguards Remix" which is on a proper Breakdance/Electro-tip beatwise.
