Carl Craig - Sessions [!K7 Records]

Berlin-based !K7 Records earned many praises in the past and present, not only for their carefully picked catalogue of single and album releases but even more for their endless string of high quality compilations including the infamous "DJ-Kicks"-series that introduced electronic dance music to oh so many that haven't been touched by the fascination of DJ music until they first heard one.
Nowadays the label comes up with a new strike in this field, the release of Carl Craig's double mix CD "Sessions", twelve years after the Detroit Techno pioneer's contribution to their "DJ Kicks"-series. Both sessions / mixes focus on Mr. Craig's work as producer and remixer under his own name as well as using different monikers as Paperclip People - watch out for the excellent track "Oscillator" featured here which originally was released on Carl Craig's very own Retroactive imprint in 1991 and still is one of his most thrilling works ever -, 69, Innerzone Orchestra and others so this release can be understood as DJ showcase or artist retrospective at the same time. This "best of..." is a clear statement to all those who discovered Carl Craig only recently due to his "Falling Up" rework that has been caned by nearly everyone playing 4/4 music out in the clubs, a manifesto of influential, groundbreaking and pioneering work that lasts over a timespan of two decades now plus - for all those being around from day one - a great collection of CC's tunes that includes some unreleased stuff alongside well apreciated and sought after tracks as well as some special reworks crafted exclusively for this release. Due to all that "Carl Craig - Sessions" on !K7 can be rated one of the essential compilations for all newbies and old timers in electronic dance music the same, a lesson that tells the story of true Techno spirit from the very beginnings to this date, brought to all of you by one of its originators. Buy.
