Chiminyo - I Am Panda [Gearbox Records Promo]

To be released via Gearbox Records on September 4th, 2k20 is "I Am Panda", the debut album by London-based producer / percussionist Chiminyo and follow up to his 2019 single "I Am Chiminyo" on the same label. Realized alongside a plethora of guest vocalists and instrumentalists the 10 tracks on this roughly 45 minutes spanning album are presenting a hyper-dense, multi-layered and sometimes overwhelming take on 24th century Pop Music, touching on chromatic, blurred out and chatoyant Vaporwave pastel aesthetics synthwise and indulge in 80s sunsets whilst the complex and ever meandering drum patterns bring on the right swing, no matter if in misty slow jams like "Pan's Call" or the even more romantic "Reachin'" whilst "...higher together..." gets deep into Funk-infused territories and "See Me" featuring K.O.G. brings on tropical, BrokenBeat-informed dancefloor heat for very special nights out just to name a few. If you love sweet cocktails and neon signs this is an album to check out indeed.
