Light Conductor - Sequence Three [Constellation Records 193]
Released via the long-standing Canadian Constellation Records label as their cat.no. 193 is "Sequence Three", the aptly named third album by Light Conductor. Formed and co-founded by Stephen Ramsey and Jace Lasek Light Conductor once again relies on an arsenal of what is described as restored vintage synths and analogue electronic gear to cater a set of five extended cuts on their first longplay piece in half a decade, opening with "She Glitters The Dust" and its highly romantic, fogged out Ambient spirals which certainly speak and appeal to followers of Wolfgang Voigt's highly praised GAS project (minus the beats, though) before moving forward into apparently SinoCosmic-infused VaporChill aesthetics which is followed by "Omenize" which adds dreamlike vocal harmonies, minimalist percussive elements and heavy sinewave bass pulses to the mix which, combined and blended, provide a time defying mix of unscathed rural beauty, ethereal DreamPop and what can be described as Ambient Future Folk for the most part. With "Ghost City Radio" the group brings forth almost classic Kosmische x Berlin School vibes paired with hints of calm, ever floating EsoAmbient and psychologically intense Spoken Word samples somehow evoking memories of Robin Rimbaud's Scanner aesthetics of the 90s whereas "High In The Orange Air" pairs the Kosmische x Berlin School aspect with minimal sonic decay and traces of an uplifting vintage synth motif buried deep within the mix before "Supercontinent" serves (Neo)Cosmic emulations of tweeting birds or calls of their exoterrestrial equivalents over lush synth harmonies floating and meandering like endless neon-luminiscent meadows for a slightly krautsy, yet undoubtedly beautiful closing which works its way through a heavily layered, dense and in parts droning, brooding and trance-inducing as well as ritualistic climax. One for fans of classic Ambient x ChillOut as well as rare New Age gems alike. Go check.
