Alarmen / Spherical Disrupted - Aquila [Audiophob 044]
Released via the Audiophob label on December 23rd, 2k24 is "Aquila", the second full length split album by Alarmen and Spherical Disrupted whose first CDr split collaboration sparked the launch of Audiophob more than two decades ago. With a total runtime of 77 minutes the album features not only the two main tracks, "Tarazed" by Alarmen, an epic, floating and most beautiful SpaceAmbient affair whereas "Altair" by Spherical Disrupted provides a slightly darker IDM / Ambient vibe with its cold atmospheric movements and gooey midrange synths backed by a foundation of bassdrums hidden deep within the mix but also a set of ten additional remixes, cooked up by the main artists for their respective cuts as well as a wide range of contributors roaming the imprints spheres including Autoclav1.1, Wesenberg, The Empath, Darkrad and others. Those remixes provide a sonic ark ranging from brooding minimal DarkAmbient ("Tarazed *Carbon Core Mix by Spherical Disrupted") to unsettling ColdAmbient reminiscent of unfathomable interstellar voids ("Altair *Chrysaetos Remix By Alarmen") and fascinating quasi-tectonic low end pulses alongside futuristic IDM minimalisms and hovering most beautiful melodies ("Tarazed *Wesenberg Rework"). Furthermore we see the "Altair *50% Remix by Doctor Moreau (Axiome)" on a speed reduced EBM x Techno fusion tip for doomed, post-apocalyptic dancefloors, the "Altair *Dread Remix by Darkrad" brings forth cold space winds and deeply melancholic DarkAmbient alongside tense, yet subdued war drums and Industrial references and "Tarazed *Mandelbrot Remix" is as classic, chiming and ever evolving as Ambient can be just to name a few. Highly recommended, this one is.
