baze.djunkiii Charts 08/2011

01. Seiji - Easy / No Other [Seiji 004]
Long-time established producer Seiji comes up with a new release on his very own self-named label. Whilst "Easy" fuses SpeedGarage with bubbling bass arrangements and a typical UK Funky feel we see "No Other" on a proper 4x4- / 4Beat-tip ready to tear up dancefloors worldwide. Recommended.

02. Beastie Respond - Syncopy [Teal 003]
Deep beautiful uplifting Dubstep piece with cinematic qualities featuring strings, offbeat chords and a warm embracing bassline for special moments. Might be a nice closing tune, too. On the flip Blawan delivers a remix version which is full-on bullshit, an uninspired and even less inspiring attempt to transfom "Syncopy" into a dark Techno piece. Original - 10 points. Remix - fail.

03. Mosca - Tilt Shift *Julio Bashmore Remix [Whitelabel]
Slowed-down UK Funky on a proper House tempo, 'troity strings and stabs, thrilling claps and sweet female vocal snippets - this is what Julio Bashmore's refix of Mosca's "Tilt Shift" serves on top of a frolicking bass foundation and that's why it's gonna get hammered by DJs of various genres these days. Two more mixes on the flip, but these are too UK Funky for my personal taste.

04. Talking To Turtles - Oh, The Good Life [Devil Duck Records Promo]

06. Bluff - 2 x 1 [Shhhh Records 001 Promo]

07. David Rodigan's Dubwize Shower [BBE Records]
Excellent 2LP compilation featuring a whole bunch of twenty - sic! - classic (and classy!) original Roots Dub tunes by the likes of King Tubby, Augustus Pablo, Sly & Robbie amongst others. One to check out: King Tubby feat. Johnny Clarkes "Roots Natty Congo Dub"

08. Miguel Puente & Sishi Rosche - Serious Compassion [No 19018 ltd.]
This one is the B2 track of Soul Clap's "Social Experiment Sampler" 12" and imho the only track out of four that's worthwhile playing out. Imagine a stripped-down BrokenHouse foundation, ecstatic Disco-vocals with thrilling delays and out of these ingredients you get what will be called an anthem in future days. Sexy as hell.

09. Lochoi *llind [Mini Crunch Records 009]
7" has always been one of my favorite formats when it comes to vinyl releases - not only coze many 7" releases are massively underrated by lots of other DJ's - and this crisp little orange one is one of these secret weapons, containing two tracks of raw experimental underground Techno well fitting for dark basement parties and illegal one-offs. Bangin' to the core.

10. The Goon Show - Angel Band / The Grass [Orphanear 005]
"Angel Band" is a lttle song in various DeepHouse-variations with a raw but well sexy underground attitude - especially meant to be played out in small venues attended by true connaisseurs whilst "The Grass" is a folksy piece of Indietronics that will be loved by Indie-kids as well.
