Jarr - Evangeline [Sound In Silence 121]
Also released via the Greek Ambient and beyond staple that is Sound In Silence as their cat.no. 121 on April 28th, 2k25 is "Evangeline", the latest collaboration album cooked up by Jon Attwood and Ray Robinson under their shared moniker that is Jarr. Once again limited to 200 hand-numbered copies the album caters a selection of ten tracks in total rolled out over the course of 49 minutes, presenting a mostly free-floating, calm and ever meandering sonic vision hovering in between super-soft Ambient pads and gently struck guitars and tender rhythms - with tunes like the most beautiful "Manoeuvres" builing a bridge between genres like Downtempo, Postrock and twangy Balearic for most beautiful sunsets, "O Muse" bringing forth washed out and super beautiful Ambient pads and minimal guitar textures and "Embrasure" indulging in deep longing melancholia of a rather minimalist kind. Furthermore we see "Seventeen Summers" opening with a droning nocturnal low end pulse later garnished with glistening etherealisms, "Acadia" is evoking memories of endless snow fields and cosy winter nights whereas "Nebraska" is taking a take on stripped down, yet panoramic Glacial Ambient and probably might be our favorite cut on this longplayer just to name a few. Go check.
