The Dorf - Glam [Boomslang Records / Umland Records]

Released on March 25th, 2k25 is "Glam", the latest musical output by the Essen-based Umland Records label, this time in collaboration with Boomslang Records, as well as the Umland core ensemble that is The Dorf. Grown to a 24 (!!!) piece orchestra featuring basically everyone who released on the label throughout the past years plus a wide periphery of artists The Dorf caters a set of four live recorded pieces over the course of 43 minutes, exploring dense and extremely fast-paced Jazz for chase scenes and headbanging audiences, accentuated by perfectly timed brass fanfares in contrast to rather chaotic sequences, serves surprisingly catchy grooves especially prevalent in cuts like "ANC" whereas "Glimlach" pairs Jazz techniques with ever spiralling Kosmische Musik in a most thrilling and unusual way before slowly finding its innate groove whilst "NOMEN" waves goodbye on a rather tender and stripped down tip, providing what seems to be quite a peaceful and calm closure for an otherwise intense album affair before working its way up to a highly dramatic panoramic climax.
