Morton Feldman - Palais De Mari: Performed By John Tilbury [True Blanking 006]

Released via the True Blanking label on May 1st, 2k26 is "Palais De Mari", a live recording of John Tilbury's performance of named Morton Feldman piece which took place more than a decade ago at the occasion of the Tectonics Festival in Reykjavik, Iceland on March 3rd, 2k12. Over the course of a little more than 26 minutes Tilbury dives deep into the final Feldman composition for solo piano which harks back to 1986, carefully exploring the pieces stripped down, ever so slightly varying movements and gestures, presenting a spatial and atmospheric, yet at the same time extremely focused amalgamation of Contemporary x Modern Classical composition and a rather accessible take on what might be referred to as Minimal Music, timelessly floating, with each single note struck representing a chiming single star in the absolute vastness of the known sonic universe. A masterclass in everlasting beauty. Nothing more, nothing less.
