baze.djunkiii Charts 01/2012

01. Ghettoteknitianz E.P. [Planet µ 315]
Honestly I haven't been the biggest fan of Juke / Footwork so far 'coze I've been appreciating the sound of original GhettoTech / GhettoBass for a long time now and couldn't do much with its recent, more abstract and syncopated offspring so far. Until now, 'coze these six tunes provided by DJ Rashad, Gant-Man, DJ Earl, Traxman, DJ Manny and DJ Spinn combine the best of both worlds, the straightforward GhettoTech, the twisted Juke / Footwork style and a feel that hasn't been felt since the early days of Jungle. Loads of samples in here as well plus melodies made to touch your heart and make you cry. If that's the future I'm fully down with it. Great!

02. Tiger Stripes - Glorified [Audiomatique Recordings 047 Promo]

03. Oak - Otaku [Space Cadets 002]
Electronica or extremely sophisticated so-called Minimal Drum'n'Bass? That's the basic question when it comes to the second release on the great Space Cadets imprint named "Otaku" which is deep as fuck, thrilling and able to move advanced dancefloors without to use even one single snare drum. Hyper-abstraction for those who know, remixed by ASC on the flip.

04. David Lynch - Crazy Clown Time [Sunday Best Recordings]
This is the dark shit. David Lynch serves an album, his official solo debut although he's been involved in several musical projects before, that is as twisted, foggy and clouded as his cinematic work. From Wave to PostPunk to alienated DesertRock to Shoegaze and back, sparse instrumentation and loads of loneliness, some electronic influences glittering through but still this is autumnal and meant to be consumed whilst driving and driving for millions of miles on lost highways without experiencing any signs of civilization. Not good if you're suffering from depression or suicidal tendencies. Good if you're suffering from the same. Check: "Noah's Ark" and "Football Game". Highly addictive.
