Guy Van Nueten - Contact [Bolli Records / Sony Classical]

Released on November 30th, 2k18 as a collaboration of Bolli Records and the major player Sony Classical is "Contact", the new, trilogy concluding, album by composer / pianist Guy Van Nueten. Presenting a set of four multi-part compositions we see the 1965-born artist diving deep into the realms of solo piano play, indulging in deep romanticism and spatial melodic elegies which surely will be appreciated and loved by die-hard followers of (Neo)Classical / Contemporary Classical music crossing over into the realms of Easy Listening and tender scores for intimate candle-light dinners but, although being musically and sonically pleasing and therefore not a bad album at all, seems a little arbitrary, kitsch-driven and cliche for our ears which are surely gravitating towards the harsher, experimental and more demanding side of any musical genre there is. A little too nice, this.
