baze.djunkiii - Drum'n'Bass Mix taken from Intrauterin Tapes 002 [2001]

It's been a few years now since Intrauterin Recordings started its sister label Intrauterin Tapes which successfully aimed to introduce a so far quite underrepresented aspect of UK Drum'n'Bass-culture to the german, especially Hamburg-based scene: officially released Drum'n'Bass-, UK Garage- and DarkJungle-mixtapes. Pioneering this, a whole of eight volumes in the Intrauterin Tapes-series have been released before the label was defunct, partly due to the fact that easily recordable CDR's became ravers choice as a medium of the new era instead of sticking to cassettes as the classic recording medium that it has been for ages.
Long time sold out, baze.djunkiii's mix featured on Intrauterin Tapes 002 is yet a classic when it comes to Drum'n'Bass of the pre-Neurofunk era and is available for download now for all those who missed that one for any reason.

A few backstock issues of the Intrauterin Tapes-series can be purchased @ referenzloop.biz.

05.10.2007 Vernissage: Ruedi.Beckmann - Growing Up [Maculate 3] @ Neue Heimat / Hamburg

Parts in the post, pt. 74

Roald Zahl's "Tour De Planet" is cat.no. 032 of Pharmacom Records, a three-tracker of nearly 40 minutes length which - due to this - might be filed as extended E.P. or even longplayer by many. All tracks explore the fields of Experimental Electronics, stuck somewhere between distorted technoid rhythms, Noise as a genre, strange filter effects and dissonant high frequency pulses - a specialists release, if one likes to name it like that, accessible only to a minority of listeners and maybe even strange to those who are used to leftfield-electronics.

A new release on Super Six Goodies is "Intro Tech" by DJ Pablishhh!, who enters the realms of uptempo ElectroHouse / ElectroTech with his debut release on this imprint, well functional and recommended to those who usually follow the likes of DJ Umek and similar.

Multi-activist Sascha Müller is responsible for the first ever release on Chillzone Records including two of his tracks named "Sahara Nights" and "Traumschwingungen", both to be referred to as classic Ambient / Electronica / Deep Listening Music with a bit of balearic approach. Good for terrace floors, ChillOut-areas and armchair listening sessions.

Longplay love 54.0

"A Dark Wave From The Black Sea" is the title of the forthcoming cat.no. 005 on the well-appreciated Exil-System imprint, a fourteen track various artists compilation focusing on electronic music produced in countries around and close to the Black Sea like Romania, Georgia and others. Artists as different as Masstyk, Mihai Popoviciu, Aeronautica, Sun40 and others share the same vision and serve a menu of mostly 4-to-the-floor-based music, influenced by classical Electro-sounds, a bit of Minimal Techno, Drexciya'esque arrangements and athmosphere plus - as it seems - appreciation for all of the Clone/Viewlexx-crew and their blueprint of (Neo) ItaloDisco, which makes this one quite essential for lovers of high quality club music. All tracks are a pleasure to dance to plus they're complex and musically interesting enough to enjoy throughout homelistening sessions in yr armchair as well. Go and get "A Dark Wave From The Black Sea" before it will be flying off the shelves quickly after its day of release set for october 15th.

All those being into the more commercial vibe of Electro- / TechHouse will highly appreciate Malente's forthcoming 2CD-album "Whow" which is announced for october 26th via Unique Records. While CD1 features a nineteen-track, full on DJ-mix including usual suspects like Claude von Stroke, Zero Cash, Eyerer & Chopstick alongside a few of Malente's own productions and other tracks, CD2 is a dj-friendly, unmixed collection of remixes Malente has provided for artists as Turntable Rockers, Louie Austen, Bob Sinclair and the likes of. The whole thingy includes a bunch of unreleased mixes and re-edits, a few of them crafted exclusively for this piece that'll surely find its way into the regular clubbers collection of music.

Sascha Müller's "Acid In Love Vol. 2" is the recent longplay release on his very own imprint Super Six Records, which is home to a bunch of eight stunning tracks serving nothing less than purest analogue Acid at its best. Minimalistic, raw, wild and thrilling like digital production never happened and due to this an absolute must have for all lovers of tweeking 303 excess.

Parts in the post, pt. 73

Robert Babicz' "PingPong In Moonlight" is to be released as cat.no 025 of Audiomatique Recordings these days, a double A-sided 12" featuring the tracks "PingPong In Moonlight" and "Hope", both proving Mr. Babicz' ability to rock minimalist dancefloors as well to those who know and love him for his 303-induced output under his better known Rob Acid-moniker. Techy, athmospheric in a darker way and driven by a kind of urban, industrial melancholia that is to be found at night in abandoned warehouse areas both tracks are about to stick in DJ's boxes for a while although they do not have that instant hit feeling sticking like glue on them but have to be introduced to clubbers by regular use, maybe even twice a night, and after a while the crowd will appreciate and respond to what they get served. Be patient - just wait and see.

Hamburg-based Solomun a.k.a. DJ Play sees the release of his first 12" on Dessous Recordings soon. His two tracker is named "Sambada E.P." as a combination of the included tracks titles which are "Samba" and "Lambada" as one might guess. Genre-wise this release has to be filed as DeepHouse without a doubt but is well-influenced by warm percussion grooves referring to South American summer spirits and working well on any kind of balearic terrace floor or - if you prefer indoor clubbing - small red'ish kinda underground venue.

Quite a suprise when it comes to music and genre is cat.no. 088 of Poker Flat Recordings, a collaboration of label honcho Steve Bug & DJ Cle, which is half of the Märtini Brös. , named "Silicon Ballet E.P.". Might have been a Dessous Recordings-release as well as both tracks are based upon deep chords and warm sounds, not exactly what one might call DeepHouse but Deep Techno instead, a stripped down vision focusing exactly on clubbers needs and still less techy as the usual Poker Flat-release one might come across regularly, especially talking "Iron Daily" here featured on side A but as flipsides "Behind The Curtains" starts out with an epic intro featuring slightly echoing chords and a build-up that seems to last for ages one might guess that these words are spoken true for this track as well.

Cat.no. 021 of Supersix Records is Mr. Pit's "Dancing Through the Space", which is about to work well with those jocks still spreading a kind of 94-flavored epic HardTrance spirit in their sets as this tune holds a bit more of retro'ish vibes, while Sascha Müller's remix transforms "Dancing Through The Space" into a halftime Electro vs. Downtempo one.

MemoPlay's "UKW" has been put out as cat.no. 032 of Supersix Goodies recently, taking care of the hard, experimental side of Techno, melting short wave interference bleeps and a simplistic Rave hook accompanied by nothing but hard-as-fuck bassdrums into a tune that might be described as close to Gabba / Hardcore of the old skool - talkin' early 90s here. No matter which version of three delivered, intellectuals and eggheads are recommended to leave this one alone, but if you're up for a proper night out including loads of fun, pills and dancing your ass off this is your tune. Spell: P-A-R-T-Y!

DUBSTEP: The Sound Of Decaying London.

Parts in the post, pt. 72

Seamus Haji comes up with a new, Tech- / ElectroHouse-flavored version of the infamous Disco-classic "Last Night A DJ Saved My Live" on Sound Of Urban / Universal. Mixes by Funkagenda and Filthy Rich are served on this 12", both paying respect to the original song and as well meant to have massive impact on more commercial dancefloors. Defo a nice one and well responded to by crowded dancefloors.

Remixes of Phonique’s recent album „Good Idea“ on Dessous Recordings been put out promo circuit recently and will be released as cat.no. 073 of Steve Bug’s label. Charles Webster took care of „Worked It Out“ on the A-side and re-fixed a nice version somewhere in between of DeepHouse and a decent Progressive touch when it comes to beats and basslines, a tune that’ll be surely appreciated by DJ’s of many different genres. On the flip we’ve got Will Saul’s rework of „Bang“, taking dancefloor folks on a seriously spaced out trip to the deeper and darker side of what might be named Minimal Techno/House relying on slightly funky bassline figures, cold futuristic strings plus kinda troity tones, and Phonique’s own reshape of „Space Cruise“ featuring Gui Boratto, which is – as one might already guess – more NeoTrance-focused and melodic.

Mikael Jonasson’s „Twenty Se7en“ is to be released as cat.no. 024 of Audiomatique Recordings, entering the realms of funk-flavored Minimal Techno with his label debut which is defo not lacking a sense of humour and tongue-in-cheek, quality entertainment despite many of these days releases. Especially his use of FX and a vast variety of reprocessed, ever changing sounds add a special flavour to all three tracks included on this 12“ to be filed as quite tool’ish but still unique and well refreshing.

Parts in the post, pt. 71

Viewlexx's and Murder Capital's DJ Overdose a.k.a. Dream Disco is about to release his new one-sided 12" single via Das Drehmoment soon. The vinyl will be limited to an amount of only 200 white label pressings and - as far as reported - not be put out officially in a full cover sleeve issue, so all lovers of kitsch-loaden ItaloDisco vs. Electro shoudl keep their eyes open to hunt down one of these rare ones.

A piece of excellent minimalism is Oliver Ho’s „Zeitgeist E.P.“, delivered under his Raudive-moniker as cat.no. 087 of Steve Bug’s Poker Flat Recordings. Stripped down to its very basic elements „Zeitgeist“ is based on not more than a deep groove, an alarming construction of high-tone strings, sexy pitched down voice and bleeps that seem to be taken straight out of Sheffields early 90’s Bleeps’n’Clonks-era. On the flip we’ve got „Needles“ , remixed by label head Steve Bug into a dark and moody one as well built to move any kind of dancefloor crowd throughout a long night out due to the tunes sexy groove and sweet sound spectrum whilst the original version – named as „Head Mix“ here – rides a similar groove but seems to be referring to acidic vibes more than the remix.

Boundzound's second 12" release "Stay Alive" has been released via Universal recently and seems to be that successful as their first one under the name of "Louder" has been before. The B-side version including the Original New Version as well as a remix by Bugati alongside a so-called Extreme Beatzarre RMX is clearly focused on major radio airplay as "Stay Alive" has a true Pop potential, while both remixes by Namito and Mitja Prinz aim towards clubs and venues focused on the more minimalistic side of TechHouse. Especially Mitja Prinz's version is the one to check out here as it's prime time potential is obvious. Check.

Parts in the post, pt. 70

German imprint Intransigent Recordings have their cat.no. 011 to hit the stores soon - a split release of Bad Matter & Scary's "Fujiko" and Nanotek's "The Vengeful". Reliable as they are both tracks provide a high standard set in what is the darker side of Drum'n'Bass today, serving proper beat madness and destruction alongside doom'ish athmospheres and well-chosen sample snippets adding an extra bit to each tune. But still they're - opposite to the time when the label was established - only one player in this field today instead of being its leader which is a pity somehow as they've once been the source of the darkest, most insane Drum'n'Bass with unforgotten tunes as "Steck Der Zeiten" or "Schwarze Puppen".

Yapacc & Dr. Walker's project Helden Der Revolution have released their new track "I Am Here" on Nasty Wax recently, which is dancing on the borders of deep hypnotic Techno, DubHouse and some quite trancey influences plus additional dreamy vocals provided by Mary S Applegate. Although this mixture sounds a bit retro'ish like taken from the heyday of quality Trance in '93/'94 before this sound was flooded with drumrolls and bullshit appreggio's it's still good to hear music like this out on the dancefloor that'll raise hands just in the second before sundawn. Remixes are provided by the likes of DJ Kaine, who adds a more driving, pumping, club-related touch that might have been called HardHouse back in the days to the tune whilst Cologne's DJ Pierce seems to be on an anthemic TechTrance-tip and adds a huge - well: huge and massive! - bassline monster that is about to blow yr speakers immediately. Killer!

October 12th sees the release of Suicide Booth's "Aura E.P." which is scheduled as cat.no. 009 of the beloved imprint Das Drehmoment. Filed stylewise as Robotic Space Disco in the promo sheet there are four tracks plus an additional remix of "Rendezvous" to be found here stuck in between the genre categorizations of Electro, (Neo) ItaloDisco, B-Movie Soundtracks, Cosmic and the musical circuit of labels like Clone, Viewlexx or Bunker in regards to their very own and individual interpretation of electronic dance music. Although these might only attract a smaller, specialist audience one might expect enthusiastic dancefloor reactions if Suicide Booth's tracks are played out in the right context, which means tiny underground clubs and venues attended by regulars here. Watch out for a special edition of 100 copies pressed onto clear red vinyl as well if your not only a DJ but record collector as well.

Sundays: "JOUR FIX" @ Neue Heimat / Hamburg

After several discussions with some of my visual / music artist friends and other nice & creative people I usually meet throughout long nights in Hamburg city it became quite clear that there's a point missing where and when one is able to meet eachother at daytime, for a nice chat, to socialise, network and exchange of ideas, a point of open minded discussion, inspiration and creativity which might - but not necessarily must - lead to future joint venture projects, no matter if it's music / visuals / art / events or a combined form of the named.

As the place to be we basically agreed upon the bar / cafe Neue Heimat due to obvious reasons as u know at least some members of the club, the usual suspects, where we all or partly will team up regularly on sundays 5 P.M. for our so-called "JOUR FIX" from now on.

Feel free to join the team, all nice and easy ppl are well welcome.
