Pet Shop Boys featuring Years & Years - Dreamland [X2 Recordings]

After we've already featured the stunning lyric video for the latest Pet Shop Boys single "Dreamland" on these pages in mid-October it is now about time to take a closer look at the full CD single edition of the legendary SynthPop bands collaboration with Years & Years. Opening with the original cut of "Dreamland" we see the classic catchy orchestral SynthPop updated with elements of glitzy ElectroHouse and echoes of Indie whilst "An Open Mind" seems to gravitate towards modernistic AfroBeat / Tropical House arrangements in conjunction with the duos trademark vocal performance whereas the uptempo 4/4-cut "No Boundaries" seems to draw influences from epic Trance / FutureTrance arrangements and even weighs in mysterious, fever'ish percussion sequences, swirling sonic elements and a rolling low-end evoking echoes of memories of certain Underworld cuts of the 90s. Furthermore "Dreamland *PSB Remix" is even more dramatic and driving as well as more club focused in terms of arrangements whilst the concluding "Dreamland *TWD Vocal Remix" provides a dreamy, cascading melodic club tool for all the DJ's out there.
