baze.djunkiii Charts 08/2015

01. Prinzhorn Dance School - Home Economics [DFA Records]
Well, call me fanboy but if I had to name any favorite band of all time I think I'd go for Prinzhorn Dance School and would totally love to see them live again at some point. Once again they cater a fascinating six track menu of masterly crafted, stripped-down Minimal PostPunk - this time pressed on a limited edition of 1000 copies on dark red vinyl and aiming for a vibe a little more intimate and softened compared to the more hard-edged, slightly aggressive roughness of previous releases. Recommended for more than a reason and possibly my personal album highlight of 2015.

02. DJ Rashad - 6613 [Hyperdub Records 090]
From the unreleased archives of DJ Rashad who passed away way too early the Hyperdub Records crew picks out four bangers he produced with members of the mighty Teklife crew like DJ Spinn, Gant-Man, Taso and DJ Manny for this release which caters both the needs of those addicted to cold floorin', futuristic Crimescene Juke with two tracks as well as pleasing those craving for highly pitched Disco / Soul sample madness on the flip. Tunage!

03. Boaz - White Block [Flexi Disko No.4]
This the most surprising release we've seen in 2015 so far - brought to the world by the Austrian lable Flexi Disko and re-introducing a format that was considered dead and gone for ages. But seemingly someone is producing flexi discs again as this square white 7" flexi shows whilst bringing us some supercute, minimalistic 8bit vs. Ingenious Dilletantes sounds for all lovers of stripped-down Minimal- / SynthWave.

04. Trupa Trupa - Headache [Blue Tapes and X-Ray Records Promo]

05. Egoless - Dub Heritage / Dub Dedication [Lion Charge Records 011]
As y'all know I've got a thing for quality Dub since the mid-90s and so I was pretty pleased to find this super deep whitelabel 12" by Egoless sporting two sparse, stripped-down riddims for all lovers of classic Dub and DubHouse weighing in the best of both styles for maximum bass pleasure. Seems like Lion Charge Records is a label to watch out for if you love your Dub from the heart.

06. Digital - Dub Mammoth [Lion Charge Records 010]
Another huge bass-infested Dub weapon on Lion Charge Records, this time created by Drum'n'Bass-producer Digital who explores DubHouse and StepperDub with three top notch tunes on this 12" whilst bowing down to the Reggae classic "Get Up, Stand Up" throughout the intro sequence of the title track "Dub Mammoth". Killer!

07. Sissy Spacek - Snell b/w Weather [Hirntrust Grind Media / Dry Lungs Records Promo]
See review for details...

08. Anduin - The Last Days Of Montrose House [Infinite Greyscale 006 Promo]
See review for details...

09. Erik Bünger with Jan-Filip Tupa - The Empire Never Ended [Infinite Greyscale 007 Promo]
See review for details...

10. Various Artists - Birds Not Bitches E.P. [Albion Records 005]
GhettoBass and raw, sex-driven GhettoHouse are making a massive comeback with this bangin' hot pink 12" vinyl EP. Four tracks produced by the likes of  DJ Lil Tal, Phran, DJ Handsome and Traxman bring back fond memories of ecstaticly stompin' 90s House crowds and fast-paced killer bass music that will be loved by fans of DJ Assault and his Databass label for a reason. Check!
