New Releases On Super 6 Records

Super 6 Records comes up with release number 029 these days, which is Piet Herfu's "Night Theme" in its original version plus remixes by Symbion and label head Sascha Müller. "Night Theme" is to be called a proper, deep and hypnotic pre 1994-styled Trance tune with nice melodies and cool sounds, the style of Trance I used to love as well before things went off the cheesy, cheap and snareroll-driven way. Symbion's rework seems to be more epic and string driven whilst Sascha Müller goes deeper when he strips the track down to its sparse basics and serves a vibe that is quite close to the classic "Schöneberg" by Marmion.

Await cat.no. 038 of Super 6 Goodies as well, a two tracker provided by Valek Kambala named "Underground Protection". Both tracks can be described as kinda Electro vs. BigBeat'ish with a good amount of ballsy humour that'll drive punters mental. Does anyone remember the legendary "Beats By Dope Demand"-series on Kickin Records? "Underground Protection" would've perfectly been suited on one of these compilations...

Record reviews - things will change...

After nearly three years up and running as a weblog and several more providing general info on electronic music via this URL it's time for a change now to provide an even better and faster service than the one you experienced up to this date when it comes to reviews of upcoming or simply fresh releases. Due to that all categories like "Longplay Love", "Grime r_port" and "Parts In The Post" will be gone forever and reviews will be posted from now on as soon as new releases and promos fly in here, if we can make it even on the same day they arrive in our office!

You'll hardly find any faster service so keep checking in on a regular basis.

Parts in the post, pt. 83

Martin Landsky's "Man High" is cat.no 092 of Poker Flat Recordings, a stunning three tracker that perfectly combines a typical jack-attitude and the deep, hypnotic approach of Minimal Techno. Especially the title track "Man High" is an anthem as some short but epic string sounds bring all hands up while the bassline spreads a funky, positive vibe. Quite powerful, this one is and surely meant to stick in my box for ages. "Cold Eyes (Version 2)" and "Rugged" are to be found on the flipside, the first one riding on what might be named an Intelligent Techno vibe whilst the last mentioned is another jacking tool.

March 28th sees the release of the new Torpedoboyz 12"-single "The Disco Song" via Muto Records, which is the labels cat.no. 011. The track itself, available in four different versions and mixes here, seems a bit cheesy to me as it - ironically? - refers to quite commercial and easy listening DiscoHouse, a style that should be left alone for its own good in my opinion. But as there still is a scene for that kind of sound I guess this one is to move a wider audience than any of their former releases and introduce the Torpedoboyz to a new dancefloor crowd.

It has been a while since Vincenzo delivered a release via Dessous Recordings but now he's back on track with the labels cat.no 078 - a double A side 12" featuring "The Resident (Vinyl Edit)" and "The Shadow People" on the flip. Both tracks come up with a bit of anthemic, quite (Neo)Trance-vibe and will perfectly match with what has been released on labels like the highly appreciated Rebel One recently or Donnacha Costello's colour series on his very own Minimise-imprint in 2004. So if you're into these, make sure you don't miss Vincenzo's latest shot.

London-based Dan Berkson & James What are responsible for Poker Flat Recordings cat.no. 093, that includes the tracks "Reflections" on the A- and "Onika" on the B-side. "Reflections" is a raw, puristic piece of Minimal, Chicago-influenced, House music that features the legendary Robert Owens on vocal duties, whispering hypnotically on top of this future classic, sending shivers down your spine. "Onika" keeps up upon the same raw vibe, but works out over a sorta Moroder-sounding bassline loop that brings back the good old "French Kiss"-vibes, combining them with an attitude of new school.

Longplay love 57.0

Hamburg's finest Audiolith-label starts 2008 with the release of Juri Gagarin's new album "Energia" that is defo about to send all ElectroTrash-dancefloors on fire as no-one can't hide from their rockin', bleepy, ultra-positive attitude that reaches electronic headz, nerds and Indie kids alike. Perfectly fitting for like leftfield clubs as the Hamburg-based Golden Pudel is, so if u hang out there or in similar places this is a must have!

Lounge Records sister label Muto is about to release a limited to 500 pieces worldwide album of their main act Torpedoboyz soon, that'll fly off the stores shelves in double-12" format as their sound is well appreciated by followers of Funky Breaks, BigBeat and NuSkoolBreaks the same due to their dancefloor impact and their kind humourous attitude. Their biggest hits "Gimme A Bassline!" and "Are You Talking To Me???" are featured here as well so customers gonna have a chance to recap on them if they missed the 12" releases.

Poker Flat Recordings are about to unleash their new label compilation on march 3rd under the name of "Dead Man's Hand - Poker Flat Volume 6", a double CD that looks both in the past and future of the label's catalogue. CD1, once again carefully selected by Steve Bug, features essential tracks recently released throughout the last months as there are Matthias Heilbronn's "Do It Right", Maik Loewen's "Bright Night" and others alongside exclusive material delivered by Dan Berkson & James What and Jeff Samuel whilst CD2 is picked & mixed by Berlins DJ Cle - known as solo artist as well as for being 50% of the Märtini Brös.-duo. He elegantly blends 14 tracks together and focuses on Poker Flats deeper, more hypnotic side when he chooses tracks like Raudive's "Needles" remixed by Mr. Bug as intro and keeps the mix running with new and exclusive tracks like Ryo Murakami's "Nightmare" and Guido Schneider & Florian Schirmacher's collaboratve "Organic". With "Dead Man's Hand - Poker Flat Volume 6" Poker Flat Recordings again proves its importance as one of the main players in Minimal Techno & House and delivers a high class CD package for all followers that don't keep up with vinyl no more. Talking vinyl - all exclusive tracks will be available as 2x12" pack soon... Get that.

Parts in the post, pt. 82

The fresh label C90 Rules OK! comes up with its first release these days, a split E.P. featuring a whole of five tracks by mostly more or less unknown projects as Triggerz, (BAD) Bad Tom, Charambaboys, Redline and flaaps. Dedicated to experimental Acid and AcidGrunge to pick up a term used by Dr. Walker of Air Liquide-fame once this one is meant to mash up late night dancefloors due to its hypnotic attitude and will surely puzzle all ketamine-kids out there as it simply negotiates the existence of one strictly defined four dimensional space-time-continuum by dark, bubbly and ever-changing modulations. This is a mind trip!

Super 6 Records starts the new year with a bunch of new releases - cat.no 026 is Sascha Müller's four track E.P. "Das 3. Plink vor dem 2. Plonk". While "Let's Speak Together" and "IOU" have loads of fun using a specific 80s childs trainer for correct spelling - remember Dopplereffekt's "Voice Activated" ? - on top of straight Techno beats, "Paula" as well as "Klopfen & Schlagen" rely on pure functionality without playing voice tricks. A good one though, although one does not find anything specifically new or extraordinary added to the Techno universe.

Super 6 Records 027 is Jerzz' "Hambaken E.P.", another four tracker focusing on straight banging 4-2-the-floor. All tracks are made for prime time use and will be well appreciated by punters used to the harder kind of Techno as there are a lot of harsh, slighty distorted sounds to be found here, sometimes not too far away from Hardcore aesthetics. Hypnotic and well physical these will send you off to the stars whenever they drop, so if you're well tired of minimalism and so-called sophistication ou're likely to love this release.

Quite a huge release on Super 6 Records is the labels' cat.no. 028, Anne Anderson's "Sender *The Ultimate Remixes" featuring a bunch of eleven - yes!!! - remixes of the title track, provided by DJ Pablishhhh!, Sascha Müller, Nightnoise and a lot more from the Super 6-stable. Somehow this reminds me of some early 90s remix megalomania brought to customers by artists as The Shamen and the likes of, but as all remixes do good in a range from more minimalistic TechHouse via a bit of melodic ElectroHouse to straightaway Techno this is no bad thing at all. Only one question remains: where is the original track?

Byte.FM press release

Byte.FM – das Programm für gute Musik

Ab 11.

baze.djunkiii is back on the broadcasting circuit

After stepping back from broadcasting regularly on Hamburg's local independent radio station FSK, which was home to his radio show "Die Nachtschwestern" from March 1999 to June 2005, baze.djunkiii is back on the broadcasting circuit and enters the world of internet radio in 2008.

Starting from January 16th onwards he'll host a biweekly DJ-mix show on the fresh station Byte.FM, which is to be launched on Friday, January 11th. Transmission starts wednesdays @ 23.59 german time (GMT +1 that is) and runs up to 03.00 on thursday morning, a recorded re-run of each show will be broadcasted a week later from thursday 03.00 to 06.00 in the morning. Actually that means if you missed the January 16ths show you can hear it again on January 24th from 03.00 onwards and so on.

Musicwise each show will focus on one specific genre of electronic music, so you'll hear baze.djunkiii spinning a new style every week under the general flag of "baze.djunkiii presents: ..." which is the name of the show. Plans are set for the first shows to present styles like DeepHouse / (Neo)Disco, Dubstep / Grime, Electro / GhettoBass, Jungle / Drum'n'Bass and - in general - to come up with a proper mix of tunes baze.djunkiii refers to as essential in this style meaning: new meets old meets classic meets unreleased meets basic meets rare meets hot promo stuff meets saught after tunes. So watch out for that and make sure not to miss one single show as you are about to hear some stuff from baze.djunkiii's crates of 6000+ records you'll never heard of before...
