baze.djunkiii - Downtempo / Headz / Freestyle Showcase

Anyone out there appreciating some nice, laid back beats instead of listening to bouncing club music all the time? Then you should check out this mix which was done for showcase reasons in early 2005.

Parts in the post, pt. 76

Dessous Recordings is about to reach its cat.no 075 soon which will be Goldfish & Der Dulz' "13 Klänge", a deep but still kinda techy four tracker that seems to lead the label back on the path it took right from the start but left alone for a while then, which is: representing all aspects of what is called contemporary DeepHouse sound of today. These four tunes, which remain unnamed on my white label promo, are referring to the good old days of Chicago when it comes to their bassline figures but are filled with a stunning micro-funkiness that is more up to date then today and will stay in DJ's bags for ages due to their perfect timelessness. Future classics? Yes, indeed.

German Drum'n'Bass-label Pressure Chamber comes up with its cat.no. 002 these days featuring DJ G-I-S' "Savage" on the A plus Coresplittaz' "Scaremonger VIP" on the flipside, two tracks that seem to be highly appreciated by those being into what might called Snare'n'Bass these days but are disappointing to those who loved the dark ravey approach of the labels first release. Showcasing how many higly compressed percussive elements one artist is able to store per micro-second is not a solution for the lack of innovation in todays Drum'n'Bass culture and being dark just for the reason of being dark isn't as well. If that's what Drum'n'Bass is about in 2007, i'm out of it.

"Lovesongs (They Kill Me)" is the new 12" of Cinema Bizarre, which has been put on promo circuit via Universal Music recently, featuring reworks by Northern Lite, IAMX and Kyau & Albert of which Kyau & Albert clearly win with their fusion of Stadium Rock vocals and Bigroom Trance-flavor.

baze.djunkiii - Grime / Dubstep Showcase [2005]

Mixed in early 2005 here's a short - approximately half an hour long - Grime / Dubstep showcase set I did for one of my booking agencies for business use only. Now available for all of you folks, so download this one for free...

Parts in the post, pt. 75

Radioguagua Soundsystem's "Yo Vine Pa Ver" is cat.no. 034 of Pharmacom Records, fusing some Breakbeat / Drum'n'Bass-influences and kinda Latin / South American sounds with a basic flava that might be described as Easy Listening / Exotica within a whole of six tracks. Very sweet this is - a bit like musical candy.

Label head Sascha Müller comes up with his two tracker named "Jazzistic" on Pharmacom Records, a two part piece that very refers to what is known as Free Jazz but performing this via electronic music production methods and not live. Very chopped up and sophisticated somehow.

Take Two's "Once Upon A Time E.P." is released as cat.no. 035 of Super Six Goodies these days, providing four tracks of high quality, slightly tribalistic, percussive Techno that'll defo work the dancefloor crowd right and is recommended to all those well loving Oliver Ho's work on his own label Meta.

Grime r_port vol. 21

German producer Wadadda is responsible for cat.no. 001 of the freshly established imprint Police In Helicopter, which is coming up with a wicked 7" these days. Dark, wobbly and echo-focused the whole thing is built around a wicked and kinda aggressive vocal snippet about to "Mash Up De Baldhead" as the tunes name suggests but the whole dancefloor and club as well. One to watch out for.

Cat.no 018 of Dump Valve is a teaser 12" holding three unnamed tracks from Wonder's forthcoming album "Welcome To Wonderland", which is about to devastate floors due to its massive A-side, an Urban- / Grime-focused collaboration between Wonder and Sway about to leave the ghetto and hit the mainstream as it seductively uses a pitched part of Madonna's alltime favorite "Like A Prayer" as female hook alongside cool beats and kinda ravey backing. On the flip there's a proper Kano-feature to be found plus another instrumental but it's clearly the A-side that wins any competition here.

Fresh label Studio Rockers have put their first 12" out recently produced by ANS, which is a quite Dub heavy one and clearly influenced by the aesthetics of more experimental, mid 90s Dub coming from the UK, a time in which artists like Kitachi came up with a new trademark sound. Fusing this with the roots-related Dubstep of today you get three heavy bangers which will be loved and caned by the likes of Rusko and by classic sound systems as well.

Bad Influence are coming up with a fresh four track release on their self-titled label these days which is higly recommended to all those who like to ride on a Roots Dub-flavored vibe when it comes to Dubstep of all kind. spiced with jumpin' offbeat melodies and all that. Especially "Chat Bout" as A1 title sticks out with its Steppers / DubHouse references and straight 4/4-beats but in the end of the day all tunes are great so this one is a sureshot to buy blindfolded.
