Alland Byallo - Discovaries [Poker Flat Recordings 115 Promo]

The next addition to the Poker Flat Recordings-stable is the San Francisco-based DJ & producer Alland Byallo who debuts with a two track 12" here. Whilst the title track is a tense fusion of a typical Poker Flat-style Chicago-influenced bassline, dense atmospheric sounds, a surprisingly uplifting discoid lick which meets another additional and quite positive hook "Shipwrecked" on the flip is more of of deep, monotonous late night tool that keeps the crowd moving but doesn't stick out as something special.

John Tejada - Sweat (On The Walls) *The Remixes [Poker Flat Classics 001 Promo]

The latest addition to the Poker Flat Recordings-empire is their freshly entroduced Poker Flat Classics-series starting off with remixes of John Tejada's seminal 2004 anthem "Sweat (On The Walls)". Whilst the original version is featured on B1 and one to grab for all those who missed out on the original pressing Martin Landsky's rework comes up with supercooled but floor-functional attitude for posh, glitzy nightclubs. On B2 we see Donnacho Costello at the controls responsible for another re-lick which goes down a well hypnotic road with its slowly moving strings and thrilling beeps accompanying the characteristic synth-line of the original tune - defo the more interesting rework of these two but still not necessarily essential if you still keep the original copy of "Sweat (On The Walls)" somewhere in your collection.

Ante Perry vs, Tube & Berger - Ever Never [Moonbootique Records 040 Promo]

Fresh on the promo circuit via Moonbootique Records is "Ever Never", the newest collaborational work of Ante Perry and ElectroHouse rat pack Tube & Berger which provide a quite kitschy, discoid piece of soft electronic club music here that will be well appreciated and on heavy rotation in a more commercial club environment due to its synth-heavy hook and a warm overall feel. Maybe the original version or even the remixes crafted by the likes of Stereofunk and Hermanez will be even air-played on major radio stations but I doubt that many underground jocks can do a thing with this one. The best track to be found is the latin-flavored, quite percussive additional House tune "Moltisanti" which is featured on B2 - one to be regarded as proper DJ-tool but not as essential must have.

Music for those who know.

Artem Golovin - Back To The Loop EP [Super 6 Records 057.5]

Artem Golovin is responsible for cat.no. 057.5 of Super 6 Records, a nice and minimalistic piece of Acid that is about to be appreciated by all lovers of the classic Acid sound in its "Original Mix" whilst the so-called "Helicopter Mix" is on a deeper, more psychedelic tip driving punters mad with its ever changing, evolving, echoing modulations. An additinal tune named "Shark" is to be found here as well which seems to be acidic even without classical 303 (or clone)-lines but still comes up with a oldskool Chicago Acid-feel that is about to make ppl jack.

Sascha Müller - My Mother EP [Super 6 Records 057]

Label head Sascha Müller comes up with a new release on his own Super 6 Records-imprint pleasing all fans of true Techno with his tune named "My Mother" - a tool'ish and highly effective piece to work crowds right including some stabs that go well with lovers of the british ClubTechno that was supported big time by the likes of Steve Mason in the mid- to late-90's. A good one for sure and well working as well is Tadox' remix which emphasizes on those stabs, adds some techy beeps and provides beats on a more stripped down but still hyperfunctional level. Finally we see another remix featuring Bremen's Michael Lambart at the controls, serving a well hypnotic and more ravey sound menu based on "My Mother" that turns the tune inside out and creates something new and thrilling on its original foundation.

Aloe Blacc - I Need A Dollar [Stones Throw / Universal]

Originally stemming from the Stones Throw-camp and now licensed to Universal in Germany is Aloe Blacc's latest 12" "I Need A Dollar" which has been put on the promo circuit these days. Produced by no-one less than Peanut Butter Wolf this one is about to please all lovers of Soul / Vintage sounds but will be loved by HipHop-headz as well due to its dope Instrumental cuts. On the flip we'll find Tensnake on remix duties who seems to be something like everybody's darling these days. His version serves a chicago'esque bassline, slow four-to-the-flour vibes, classic hand claps and epic strings accompanying Aloe Blacc's voice - a remix to be appreciated by DeepHouse- and Beatdown-connaisseurs alike.

Sascha Müller - Transmission [Pharmacom Records]

With "Transmission" Sascha Müller unveals the most ambitious release on his very own Pharmacom Records-imprint so far, based on the idea of having several artists providing their musical interpretation of the same video sequence, originally captured by Mr. Müller under his VJ Pharmacom moniker and re-edited by Highsign Motion Graphix. Released on 2xDVD format as a limited edition of 40 pieces only the video sequence itself is kinda dark, indifferent and coarse grained, serving only a vague idea of what is eaxactly going on on the screen and leaves enough space for the artists to evolve their own visions on this experimental film piece of approx. 21 minutes length. The first "Transmission" is served by Sascha Müller himself who is on a quite experimental, ever oscillating Ambient tip here, followed by Ohrchitekt who starts his journey with warm embracing bass sequences running for a while before his track turns into an Clicks'n'Cuts-/ Illbient-hybrid. The final "Transmission" on DVD 1 is provided by Uria and based on scifi'esque Drone layers, Dark Ambient and a surprising one minute rise of shattered Breakcore/DarkJungle sequences. DVD 2 sees eVADE coming up with a dreamy piece of Electro Cosmic, whilst Derex provides a dark, slugging and grinding crossover of Illbient, Downbeat and Industrial-infleunces whereas Uria - responsible for the visual overall re-edit as Highsign - serves a second visual version of his DVD 1 piece. For those who love their experimentalism right.

For some reasons this 1993-released tune is one of my all time favorite HypnoTrance-tracks ever and its video is a good example for the state of video art very related to Techno music of that time. Enjoy a classic.

Detroit Grand Pubahs - Madd Circus [Detelefunk Promo]

The Detroit Grand Pubahs are back with a new album, their fourth studio long play format since 1998, and it seems to be their most diverse work  so far, leaving purist Techno behind and focussing on a fusion of Ghetto-/BootyBass, Pop-related sounds and freaky, electronic Funk  with a club-orientated twist. But there's more to this - tracks like "Mysterious Sights" prove that the Detroit Grand Pubahs are not stuck in their own musical universe but well aware of todays developments and trends and able to easily embrace styles like Dubstep in their productions whilst "Breakfast In Bed" brings out the crooning qualities of Paris The Black Fu and his partner in crime Mr. O . Overall a good album for those not being bond to one specific style of electronic dance music but willing to explore a more leftfield terrain and to look beyond their own noses.

Tin-Tin - Tears Cried

Tears Cried by Tin-Tin

This track is the latest solo work of Tin-Tin, lead vocalist of the Hamburg-based band outfit The Crystal Apes, and has been finished only a few days ago. Guess we're the first website to mention it so regard this as exclusive content...

baze.djunkiii Charts 10/2010

01. Chesus X Diverse Concepts - Baduka / C.R.S.T. - Bump [Ten Thousand Yen 002]
Two excellent pieces of Future-/ SpeedGarage released as limited to 350 edition on purple 10" vinyl. Guess this one's to be regarded as sought after item in the near future but is not only recommended to collectors but all those lovers of UK Street Music.

02. Pete Heller - Nu Acid [Bedrock 093a]
Calling a track "Nu Acid" in 2010, more than 20 years after the first tweaking 303-lines emerged from the deepest underground of that time, is quite a statement, even more when this one is meant to be released via the former Progressive / Trance-imprint Bedrock.  But Pete Heller, who's been on the circuit for about two decades now, is very aware of his abilities and fuses his Acid with housey, uplifting and filtered stabs reminiscing about a time when tracks like "Good Life" or "Big Fun" were ruling dancefloors big time. On the flip we've got Robert Babicz - a.k.a. Rob Acid for those who didn't knew it - coming up with his "Robert Babicz Smiling Remix", a variation more prime time and driving and made for all true Acid heads out there.

03. Zombie Zombie Plays John Carpenter [Versatile Records]
What a great piece that sees Zombie Zombie doing reinterpretations of five famous movie themes, all originally composed by one of the original film music greats, noone less than Mr.John Carpenter himself. Not only that the artwork is very similar to the C.I. used by DC Recordings these days, it seems like this 12" could've been released on that label as well as the musical directions varies from somewhat krauty to Cosmic and back, fitting perfectly in to all kinds of Freestyle, Cosmic or Leftfield DJ-sets not necessarily based on a straight 4/4. So which movie themes are to be found here? It's "The Bank Robbery", "Escape From L.A.", "Assault from Precinct 13", "Halloween" and "The Thing" - pieces regarded as classics by cineasts and film music lovers alike.

04. El-B - Dirty E.P. [Night Audio 003]
The uncrowned king of Dark Garage and Sublow serves a 12" featuring four new tracks somewhat in between of the mentioned genres and introducing talents like Laze, Nico, Rolla and Skolz to a wider audience as all of these tunes are co-productions and collaborational works. Especially "This Thrill" will be appreciated by bass music followers worldwide, no matter if stuck to the classic Dark Garage or recent productions whilst tunes like "Dirty Flow" pay respect to  all Grime/Dubstep hybrids on teh circuit these days.

05. Alex Flatner & Lopazz - Dinosaurs [Poker Flat Recordings 114 Promo]
See review for details...

06. Phonique vs Tigerskin - Longdrink E.P. [Ladies & Gentlemen 006 Promo]
See review for details...

07. Dels - Shapeshift [Whitelabel]
Not sure which label's responsible for this 12" that explores terrains of Mutant HipHop, Grime and UK Urban at the same time and holds five mixes of the "Shapeshift"-tune. If you see it just grab it blindfolded as it's limited to 300 hand numbered copies - mine is copy no. 221 so it might be sold out already.

ULTRNX - The Byterockin' EP. [Audiolith Records / Riptide Recordings Promo]

If one's asking for a pair of fellows ready to bring back the laser glitz to the banging world of (French) ElectroHouse / NuRave / Whatever it's very likely that the name ULTRNX comes up sooner or later. With their new "Byterockin' EP." brought to you digitally and as CD-format via Audiolith and as 12" vinyl via Riptide Recordings they're about to take hearts and dance floors by storm. Especially "Rockstr", also remixed by the likes of A.G. Trio, Ghettosexxx and Saint Pauli, is a high potential track not only for club nights but also TV ads or other forms of commercial abuse due to it's discoid feel and vivid hookline. But this is not the only banger to be found here - check out "Believe" for further proof or have a glimpse at their promotional teaser video below.

Initial Gain - Moves & Steps [Initial Gain]

Another one from the Initial Gain-stable is their recent self-released six tracker "Moves & Steps" which seems to be the total opposite of their "Future Remnant"-piece. No matter if it's Acid-induced tracks - "Bypass Philter" - or thrilling, 'troity Electro like "Seductress" or the clearly Aux88-influenced "Creatures", these tunes are clearly made for advanced dance floors and would be definitely finding their way into my record shelves if they'd be available on 12". 9 out of 10 for the music 0 out of 10 for being digital only.

Initial Gain - Future Remnant [Initial Gain]

The Berlin-based Initial Gain-collective have put their first release on the digital circuit these days, an eight track piece named "Digital Remnant" which is somewhat in between Ambient Electro, Cosmic and epic, space-induced ChillOut music that somehow reminds me of the long gone but still legendary Source Records sub-label 800trak, especially their Sandbenders "Nebula Award Stories"-release. Not exactly music for dancefloors but if you're up for a nice brain dance once in a while you're likely to well appreciate this piece.
