On And On / Hot Boys [HOTBIZ 001]

This Dubstep meets R'n'B'-flavored 10" transferring Erykah Badu and MIssy Elliott into a new context caught my attention lately and is defo one to be mentioned here although it does not deliver primetime material but some late night tunes that might even be the last ones to be played out after a proper night, sending punters home safely. Both tunes are going deep and will open the ladies hearts easily without being too cheesy - played out at the right point of the night "Hot Boys" will even be loved by all those hardcore underground types as the combination of seductive vocals hooks and some decent, slightly wobbling bassline is catchy as fuck. Will anyone please play that on any mainstream radio station, coze this tune is one of the best moments in Pop music for ages.

Video: Endproll Double N.O. - 140 BPM

Well, I know this is defo from a few years ago but still a good tune, a funny video plus one of only a few rare GhettoBass / GhettoTech tunes to be found that are produced in germany.

Celan - Halo [Exile On Mainstream]

In the pipe for april 24th is Celan debut album "Halo", due to be released via Exile On Mainstream as their cat.no. 041. Musically bound to solid, earthbound Rock music Celan is a band initially founded by Ari Benjamin Meyers of Einstürzende Neubauten- and Chris Spencer of Unsane-fame, which joined forces with Franz Xaver, Phil Roeder and Niko Wenner to serve a heavyweight album piece, clearly influenced by Hardcore and showing off some uncompromising wall of sound-attitude alongside a will to experiment with and extend the accepted borders of this genre that is hardly to be found these days.

Heinrichs & Hirtenfellner - Dark Orbit [Highgrade]

Scheduled for may 11th is "Dark Orbit", the first longplay album by east german Minimal Techno producers Heinrichs & Hirtenfellner who first met in 2003 and since then released a string of nearly 20 12"es and remixes not only on their own well-spoken imprint Supdub but on certain labels all over the place. What they deliver with their ten tracks and approx. 70 minutes long journey is a menu of highly functional MinimalTechno with a funky twist, a thing that they're specifically known for and that is the reason why their tunes stick out from the amounts of Minimal Techno released every week. A proper one, although it might be referred to as relevant only by fans of the genre.

The Remixes Volume 2 [Dessous Classics 002 Promo]

Dessous Recordings unleashed cat.no. 002 of their Dessous Classics-series these days that brings some of their back catalogue favorites back to the dancefloor, refreshed and reworked by contemporary remixers as there are Two Armadillos, Kevin Yost and Gruber & Nürnberg involved this time with their hands on tunes by The Discowboys - that's Steve Bug and Vincenzo -, Phonique and Cassy's Tracks And The City-moniker. The Two Armadillo's remix of "To The Mountain Top" is the one tune to win the race here as this one is and has been a classic House music anthem as we all love it - stripped down, raw and thrilling - while the other reworks are still good, but more of a tool'ish kind.

Langenberg - Alternate Rhythm [Dessous Recordings 087 Promo]

Dessous Recordings is exploring the deeper, hypnotic and partly Dub-influenced shades of DeepHouse music with their latest output, Langenberg's "Alternate Rhythm". The original version is a slow bulider, slow in tempo as well, featuring some nice dubby chords and a glimpse of filtered Disco glitziness that shines through as an ever filtered and kindly modulated loop. On the flip we've Sven Weisemann delivering a re-lick of "Alternate Rhythm" that goes even deeper and will be well appreciated by all those loving producers like Sascha Dive or Jus Ed alongside labels as Deep Vibes or Echochord Limited. Defo a good one albeit a bit surprising to be released on Dessous Recordings.

Wolves In The Throne Room - Black Cascade [Southern Lord]

Recently released via Southern Lord is the third longplayer by Olympia-based and Black Metal-associated band outfit Wolves In The Throne Room named "Black Cascade". Longplayer means four tracks and a running time of fifty minutes here but that is more than enough for a manic manifestation of darkness that might fear any weak heart to death. The music is black as fluid tar pitch, partly hard to bear as medieval torture rituals, energy fueled as the eye of a storm and still, no matter how heavy it gets, sedative as watching the meandering floods of a major river at night. Due to its deep, melodic aspects and hypnotic rhythm signatures recommended not only to fans and followers of Black Metal but as well to those who've totally avoided this school of music until this day - be curious and feel the maelstrom sucking you in.

DJ Maxximus [MG77 Recordings 008]

DJ Maxximus is back on track with his new 12" on his own imprint MG77 Recordings and although I don't feel his tunes "Neo" and "Israhell" too much I still recommend this one as we've the mighty Sam Shackleton delivering a massive rework named "Shackleton's Neo Bln Rmx" on the B-side that once again proves why he is to be referred to as true master of MythStep. This time his tribal-influenced work starts on a quite hectic and uptempo tip and evolves into a deeper, more minimalistic and stripped down to the bone structure the further the tune progresses. This for sure is a remarkable point as it inverts common production structures in electronic music that tend to climax towards the end and unveals a new option different to those used before. Is this the de-climaxation of sound?

Tinchy Stryder feat. Taio Cruz - Take Me Back [Universal]

Tinchy Stryder has been the next Grime-related artist to discover the potential of ElectroHouse to cash some in and his newest tune "Take Me Back" has even been signed and put on promo circuit in Germany recently by the Universal/Island company. Obviously we're not talking rough streetwise Grime here but a quite epic, mainstream-focused, Pop-driven variation of ElectroHouse with a melodic chorus and some bars spit on top. This one's made for big rooms and discotheques and although we've underground related artists like Sunship as well as Chipmunk & Sway on remix control that doesn't change a thing. Still, this one's not bad for what it is stylewise but commercial and defo not what one would expect from Mr. Star In The Hood.

BEP ))) - Boom Boom Pow [Interscope]

What's this? The Black Eyed Peas seem to have changed name for this Will.I.Am-produced single for a reason I don't get as this one is nothing not to be proud of. Based upon a proper booming 808-beat they'll set club crowds on fire no matter if they're on a Electro, GhettoBass or even Bmore tip. This one's made for universal use and will be loved by freestyle jocks and breakers alike. A good one.

Ira Atari & Rampue - My Name Is Ira [Audiolith]

Due to be released via Audiolith digitally is Ira Atari & Rampue's smash "My Name Is Ira" that amalgamates happy 80's Pop/Dance - does anyone remember Kim Appleby and the like sof these days? - with a massive 2009 ElectroPunk-attitude. The result is a tune that rocks every discotheque, makes people vogue, puts a smile on your face plus is so charming that it might even work on major radio stations. And yes we talk daytime rotation here. But still it sticks with the underground, so there's noone screaming sell out here. Remixes are delivered by the likes of Krink, Frittenbude and others - u know the names , so u know what kind of dancefloor devastation is to expect from their reworks. Massive tune.

Steve Bug - Two Of A Kind [Poker Flat Recordings 103 Promo]

After reaching the three digit level it seems like the resolution at the Poker Flat Recordings-headquarters is to set standards even higher with every new release from now on. This time it is the labels mastermind Stevee Bug with his new E.P. "Two Of Kind" that serves excellent dancefloor fodder and brings deepness back to the Poker Flat-sound. Produced alongside Cle the a-side track "Month Of Sip" is a nice and smooth late night groover with a stunning, echoic chord as main theme paying respect to all those great House tunes known to let the ladies seek for some physical pleasure - on the floor and when the club night is over. On the flip we see Mr.Bug on a solo tip with his tune "Trees Can't Dance" which is a vibrant definition of cool as well the DJ's weapon of choice when it comes to getting crowds hype and proving the tunes title wrong. Even trees will dance to this.

Rosenstolz - Blaue Flecken RMXs [Universal]

Once again we see the german Soft Pop band Rosenstolz entering clubland with a bunch of remixes - this time their new tune "Blaue Flecken" is reworked by Anja Schneider, Threethirty Yeah and Marcus Layton. While Anja Schneider delivers a proper piece of music with a slightly funky bassline and some nice, dreamy piano chords that might well fit into a late night DeepHouse-set the other mixes aren't exactly my cup of tea although they might appeal to all those who're following Rosenstolz anyway - the commercial crowds.

1 Foot In Da Rave - Move It! [Audiolith]

Due for release on Audiolith is "Move It!" - a four track digital single by 1 Foot In Da Rave which is the the collaborational project of the Audiolith-artists Rampue aka Rave Digger & Torsun aka Nick Rave. Mashing up influences of UK Hardcore, French Touch filter madness, Epic ElectroHouse and NuRave they're ready and about to tear up any dancefloor packed with fashionable dayglo kids and alternative electro punks. This is raw and uncut NRG accessible to those who know: Blow your horns!

Intrauterin Tapes For Cuba

As I realized only a few days ago the Hamburg based Subvert Store, provider of skateboarding equipment and clothing is collecting stuff - used clothing, shoes, decks and other equipment - for the suffering skateboarding scene in Cuba, where even passionate skaters are forced to be up to six months off as they don't or rarely have the opportunity to replace broken decks and other stuff. Supporting this small urban scene in a far away land seemed to be a good thing to me so as I'm not invlvd in any skateboarding activities - although I used to have a board as a nipper - I donated a part of the still existing backstock of my now defunct mixtape label Intrauterin Tapes that provided DarkJungle, Drum'n'Bass and UK Garage mixtapes to the Hamburg-scene back in the days to the Cuban skate scene today, hoping to do sth. good and usefull.

press info:

Scheduled for release on March 13th via Audiolith Records is the newest output from Der Tante Renate or Norman Kolodziej as this guy is known to his parents. Influenced by ultra-energetic ElectroPunk as well as glitzy ItaloDisco and some mid 90s Rave-/Trance-aesthetics Der Tante Renate serves a package of eleven peak time tracks of which "Stumpf, Schwarz" is even able to destroy any Dubstep-dance due to its massive impact that'd mix well with Emalkay's epic refix of Two Fingers' "What You Know" on Big Dada. But that's only a sideline for experimentalists - play all other tunes in front of a bunch of NuRave hipsters, ElectroPunk-afficionados or a mixed crowd willing to bruck out and you'll experience the meaning of the term "moshpit". This auntie - the meaning of "Tante" in english - does it better...

Hiroshi Yamaoka - Beyond The Coast / Moments With You [Chillzone Records 010]

Chillzone Records is reaching the two digits zone with this release and once again they're not serving Ambient or ChillOut music but two pieces of Easy Listening / Exotica that could've worked well as soundtracks for late 70's soft erotic films or american upper-class soap operas of the early 80's era. These days you might file those tunes as: Cocktail Music.
