Prinzhorn Dance School - Reign (Official Video)

A great song from the most recent Prinzhorn Dance School mini album "Home Economics" which is another highly recommendable release by one of the most-underrated yet highly impressive Minimal PostPunk outfits of our time. Erik Bünger with Jan-Filip Tupa - The Empire Never Ended [Infinite Greyscale 007 Promo]

Erik Bünger: The Empire Never Ended & The Third Man

People speaking in tongues have always be an intriguing thing so we're assuming that quite a lot of of people will be thrilled by - and unleashing a lot of awkward, questionable theories about - the latest release put on the circuit by Berlin's Infinite Greyscale imprint only recently. Based upon the mysterious vocal recordings discovered by researcher Thomas Knoefel on a possibly 1948-recorded, 78RPM single pressed inside-out found and marked with the words "Dangerous! Do Not Play" in the archives of London's Society for Psychical Research which, until this day, have never been identified as a known language nor translated, the one-sided 10" now issued by Infinite Greyscale sporting beautiful silk-screen artwork is also pressed inside out, limited to 300 hand-numbered copies and features a musical performance in which violinist Jan-Filip Tupa plays alongside the original vocal recordings, following a transcript that transfers the audible sequence of syllables into sheet music. The result is a fascinating, yet alien'esque and pretty unpredictable musical stakkato, discontinued by intense respiratory sounds and obscured by crackles of the original recording, with vocals and syllables balancing between agitation and uproar whilst sometimes even resembling shamanic chants speaking of unknown mysteries and intelligence, possibly once located on a now abandoned or sunken island somewhere in the Southern Pacific area to make an uneducated guess here. We're curious if more info on this conundrum will be found now that this release now is out in the open.

Also have a look at this video if you're curious about the artwork and silk-screen print.

Mr Vast -Touch & Go / Problems With The Light [Cack Records 008 Promo]

As a prequel to his forthcoming album "Touch & Go" Wevie Stonder frontman Mr Vast unleashes a fresh double-A-side 7" single that's well appealing to all lovers of quirky Digital Phonk with a seductive, yet leftfield song attitude somewhat in between the BigBeatHouse vibe once served by acts like Jacknife Lee, an imaginary fully drugged out Prince and Air Liquide's SuperPhonk classic "Superfreaky". If these names do ring a friendly, familiar bell in your musical history this one should be on your checklist for sure.

Dr. NoiseM - Studio Works 12 [Dr. NoiseM Tapes]

The mysterious Dr. NoiseM is back with a new audio emission in his "Studio Works"-series, serving two tracks that both take things to the extreme when it comes to track lengths alone. Whilst the epic, 77+ minutes long "XXXX" explores deep, calm AmbientNoize incorporating intense respiratory sounds and controlled distortion layers stretched over the tracks full runtime to a time perception dissolving effect we see the 28 seconds of  "LFO" cater an alarming, eruptive burst of sound that totally pull the listener out of the hypnotic state of inner trance induced by its predecessor like an alarm clock going off at maximum volume throughout a period of REM sleep. What a contrast.

Andi Stecher - Austreiben / Antreiben [Heart Of Noise Edition 003]

Not too long ago we've announced the forthcoming album"Austreiben / Antreiben" produced by Andi Stecher for the label and festival Heart Of Noise Edition via the Psychedelic Kitchen blog and now we're finally able to review the full longplay piece, which has been put on the circuit on June 20th, 2015 and is dealing with the pre-christian mask traditions of Europe's alpine regions, mostly related to the expulsion of winter through parades of often scary, masked figures and loads of clanging, percussive sounds. It's especially these sounds produced by tambourines and similar musical instruments on which the albums opener "(Un)durchdringbar" picks up with reprocessed field recordings from a far distance combined with low frequency bass waves and harshly squealing, metallic noises hard to bear for more faint-hearted listeners which are later covered and replaced by off kilter string instruments and fever'ish, electronic drumming building up into a wild climaxing crescendo towards the end. The following tracks "Möglicher Zugang - Übergang 1" and "Möglicher Zugang - Übergang 2 (Wilder)" can be seen as super dry, percussive interlude variations with the last mentioned soundwise paying homage to the Glitch / IDM-scene whilst the final tune "Tödi" starts things with more Field Recordings of what seemingly is a local alpine festivity but develops into a kind of deep, calming PopAmbient / Post-PostRock fusion perfectly suitable for late night consumption in front of an open fire and followers of acts like Klimek of F.S. Blumm.

Sissy Spacek - Snell B/w Weather [Dry Lungs Records / Hirntrust Grind Media 039 Promo]

After a little break the Austrian label for sonic sickness and audio ultraviolence Hirntrust Grind Media comes up with a new release these days for which they teamed with another Austrian imprint dedicated to more destructive and way off mainstream audio recordings - Dry Lungs Records. Their conjunctional effort brings us loads of unpleasant and dystopian GrindNoize produced by the American band / project Sissy Spacek that is known, and hated for by the uninformed, for taking the Noize and audio chaos levels to the maximum extreme. Imagine a nerve wrecking, impermeable maelstrom of electric guitar feedbacks, buzzing HarshNoize, clanging metal object and aggressive high pitch frequencies layered thickly on top of superviolent screams and primeval grunts, creating sonic hell for inexperienced listeners who - after being confronted with this 7" might immediately start to peel off pieces of their own acutely rotten skin like the participants of the legendary Russian sleep experiment. Be warned!

Trupa Trupa - Headache [Blue Tapes And X-Ray Records Promo]

Coming all the way from Poland is "Headache", the latest album effort by Trupa Trupa which has been put on the circuit via the UK-based imprint Blue Tapes And X-Ray Records in early March 2015. Consisting of Grzegorz Kwiatkowski, Tomek Pawluczuk, Wojtek Juchniewicz and Rafał Wojczal the quadruple pack of artists serves a well-captivating musical journey on their third full length piece, balancing right between 60s Psychedelia, heavy Southern Rock, massive wall-of-noise influences, aggressive, yet introverted Grunge-related sound aesthetics, bits and pieces of (No)Wave as well as even incorporating the sonic experimentalism of the PostPunk flirting with Dub era, especially to be found in the echo and reverb-heavy SlowCore anthem "Getting Older" which is perfectly depicting the process of doom and decay through dark soundscapes and fever'ish repetition whilst the tender ballad "Give 'Em All" introduces a romanticism undreamt of in Trupa Trupa's sonic spectrum and "Wasteland" seemingly deals with despair and post-apocalyptic blues, stacking up layers and layers of noise to a spine-tingling effect. But these songs are only a few selected examples and snapshots from a much greater musical journey that is "Headache", an album well recommended as maximum volume companion throughout dark'n'grey November days or even a full on dystopian future to come. Check!

4ZZZ1 - No Control [Psychocandies 037 Promo]

To be released via the ever active Acid imprint Psychocandies on July 23rd, 2015 is "No Control" - a new two track digital single by the mysterious 4ZZZ1 project which explores dry, minimalistic Techno realms rounded off by sparse 303 bleeps and swinging Electro snares with the opener "Eingang 42" whilst "The Stalker", the second tune on this single, takes dancefloors by storm with its raw, fast paced underground Techno attitude and energy-fueled one tone breakdown.

John Chantler - Still Light, Outside [1703 001]

A conceptual, cross-country release marks cat.no. 001 of John Chantler's very own label 1703 in August 2015. Based upon field recordings of the pipe organ at London's St. John-at-Hackney church in a four months period before relocating to Sweden where "Still Light, Outside" was finalized and heavily reprocessed at the renowned Stockholm-based EMS studios the four tracks on this nearly fourty minutes album are, despite being calm and only slowly evolving in structure, not necessarily recommended to the faint-hearted or those looking forward to experience floating, ruminant soundscapes. Instead, especially the title track resembles a droney feel whilst building up layers and layers of a dissonant, more Noize-related crescendo that never fully climaxes whilst the follow up "The Long Shadow Of Decline - Pt. I" fuses calm gurgling water'esque sounds with intense, constant and pretty unnerving, ear-piercing high frequency blips accompanied by short sci-fi tones and solemn, melancholia-infused string layers slowly unfolding after the first third of the track passes. "The Long Shadow Of Decline - Pt. II" is based on a solid foundation of buzzing, digital low frequencies evoking fond memories of more experimental releases on the long gone Audio.NL label before being covered by a pretty much unprocessed layer of organ dronage from which electrical noises, feedbacks and short circuit sounds seem to emerge throughout the further progress of the tune. Finally "The Long Shadow Of Decline - Pt. III" fuses calm Ambient beauty and clean, hyperdigital sounds well related to the once popular Clicks'n'Cuts genre to cause a strong and physically recognizable feeling of unrest and inner dislocation similar to listening to two TV shows at the same time - an interesting experience but a tough one to go through for a non-advanced listener for sure.

Covering Fleetwood Mac is not the most obvious choice ever and a brave thing to do but Eau Rouge are up for it and they're doing a pretty good job. Nice.

Ozmotic / Fennesz - AirEffect [Folk Wisdom 003 Promo]

Sitting in our P.O. box most recently was this conceptual album release crafted by the Italian Ozmotic collective and longterm experimental electronic music stallion Christian Fennesz released as cat.no. 003 of the Folk Wisdom imprint. Set in a context of an imaginery future the seven tracks of  "AirEffect" function, according to he release info, as a kind of audio black box capturing evidence of a once existing, multimedia-savvy mankind with the heedful listener taking over the role of an observer, discovering this magic box revealing an ongoing stream of sound which - at least in a first listening session - does not necessarily gives a clue on any kind of digital technologies used in these long gone days of the past. Instead we come across sparse Jazz-reminiscing drumming partly paying homage to artists like the ever active Jaki Liebezeit, organic, deep listening Ambient and the longing, ultramelancholia of 23rd century Futury Jazz, Downtempo Noir and various layers of Field Recordings - e.g. street scenes or tribal chants and TV recordings as to be found in the well fascinating "LiquidMrkt" whilst the second to last tune "Clone 15.26" even resembles a dubbed out, calm and well relaxing feel like a lazy summer night. A setting that might well fit for the recommended consumption of this deep listening album piece that's a good one but still does not meet the expectations evoked by the scenario described in the albums info sheet.

Anduin - Last Days Of Montrose House [Infinite Greyscale 006 Promo]

Coming in from the Berlin-based offices of the experimental Infinite Greyscale-imprint is "Last Days Of Montrose House" - a beautiful one-sided, limited to 300 hand-numbered copies grey vinyl 10" produced by Anduin, better known as Jonathan Lee to his family, with a silkscreen printed flipside and a bunch of nice additional inserts. Resembling Dark / Death Ambient with a twist that will surely appeal to admirers of projects as legendary as Kallabris but coming across serving an ever morphing, constantly changing perspective on tone and athmosphere going from calm and harmonic into more dark and threatening territories whilst catering non-dancefloor crowds with slow, heavy and highly compressed beat structures before a short innocent breakdown reminisces of fairies and other magical creatures that are - in the further progress of the tune - accompanied by highly digital swamp sounds and haunting, unspecified animal calls appearing somewhere in the very background. A surely interesting and well-fascinating journey for all lovers of Deep Listening Music.

Sascha Müller [Sascha Müller Music 1000011]

Another fresh and untitled two track single release from Germany's most active underground producer who serves quality TechTrance reminiscing of labels like the late Superstition Recordings in the first track "Lauflicht" whilst exploring quirky, deep but still awkwardly grooving Minimal- / MicroHouse territories with the second tune "My Brother" - a nice stylistic move that slightly goes beyond Sascha Müller's usual musings.

baze.djunkiii Charts 07/2015

01. Djipe - Misophonia [Bang A Rang 007]
That's what we'd call a comeback with a bang. After six years of silence the Peace Off-offshoot Bang A Rang is back on track with this limited to 300 copies, beautiful green vinyl that brings us the four track label debut of the Netherlands-based producer Jasper Gilissen a.k.a. Djipe who perfectly fuses hard-as-fuck stomping Hardcore with elements of brutal Industrial Drum'n'Bass and Breakcore - a lethal weapon in terms of sonic ultrawar including dark, mental hits like the psyched out, heavy-hitting and Punk-citing "Blackout" or the half-time to to overdrive killer tune "Protest". Not to be missed.

02. R & B - Edits [Blueprint Limited 006]
Limited whitelabel business on James Ruskin's classic Techno imprint and no-one's dealing with cheesy R'n'B here. It's Mr. Ruskin and Mark Broom who are joining force under the name of R & B, serving untitled, but excellently crafted Broken Techno on the stamped A-side whilst the flip caters the needs of all those loving their straight up, functional Techno and steadily morphing basslines right. Good stuff.
