Hyboid - Aliens Ate My Synthesizer! [Astro Chicken 002 Promo]

The Düsseldorf-based ElectroCosmic-imprint Astro Chicken recently released its cat.no. 002 which is Hyboid's debut longplayer named "Aliens Ate My Synthesizer!". Pressed on blue vinyl this piece contains a bunch of nine tracks - well, three of them are quite short so they might be called snippets - on a more uptempo tip although on a quite scenic, b-movie'esque sci-fi vibe and well able to please Cosmic followers and Electro heads alike. Especially check out "Attack Of The Bloogs" for a glimpse on hyperspeed sound. Very limited pressing again, so don't wait too long before you start searching for a copy.

01.12.2010 baze.djunkiii presents: The Darkest Night @ ByteFM

file under: Gabba / (Unhappy) Hardcore

Rob Stalker / Bruce / Bassbottle - Heart Banditoz EP [Sonic Speed Records 002 Promo]

Recently released via Sonic Speed Records is the "Heart Banditoz EP" - a split-12" including tracks by Rob Stalker, Bruce and Bassbottle which are all well-recognized amongst HardTechno-lovers all over the place. And in opposition to many other artists active in this specific genre they really manage to add a new, fresh attitude to what HardTechno is these days as their tracks are not especially hard or fast just for the sake of being hard, banging or fast but come with an epic feel, some nice ravey elements or unforeseeable, tricky breakdowns so that those tracks remain unique amongst the majority of HardTechno-tunes put out every week. Especially Bassbottle's "As You Sow, So You Shall Reap" sticks out due to its half-time breakdown and dark vocal abuse, this track alone is worth adding the "Heart Banditoz EP" to your collection.

Duffy feat. The Roots - Well Well Well [Polydor Ltd. Promo]

Put on the promo circuit via Polydor is Duffy's latest 7" single named "Well Well Well" featuring The Roots. As one might expect from a Duffy song this one will be appreciated by many followers of the so-called Vintage sound but her voice sounds too quirky and squeaking on this piece to fully break through and even the instrumental cut on the flip feels quite sterile and not that touching as her uber-hit "Mercy" was. Not exactly my cup of tea and for sure not Duffy's best work ever.

file under: Techno

True style Techno for those who know.

Festplatten Are Back

Just in time for the 11th anniversary of their very own Festplatten-imprint Gebrüder Teichmann are back on track with their forthcoming "Brainwash EP" which will be the first 12" release on Festplatten for ages. This video is a forecast of things to come - positive, funky, discoid House music with a twist, accompanied by a Kenia-shot clip that is even more funky than the music.

baze.djunkiii charts 11/2010

01. Prinzhorn Dance School - Seed, Crop, Harvest / Off The Radar, Off The System[DFA Records
It's not the biggest secret that Prinzhorn Dance School are one of my favorite bands ever and with this 7"-release they're dropping two more of their raw, typical, minimalistic PostPunk- / Indie-bombs. Hope there's a new album to come as well.

02. Jody "Fingers" Finch - Jack Your Big Booty [Let's Pet Puppies 004]
The label print says "Recorded in Chicago at BM Recording Studio 1986 / 2009" and according to the sound of this 12" this might be for real. Jackin' ChicagoHouse to the fullest and defo not to miss if you're an oldskool aficionado. Derrick Carter is on board as well, serving a re-work of "BHQ No Acid Vocal".

03. Deekline & Ed Solo feat. DJ Assault - Bass To Make Your Booty Move [Booty Breaks 014]
Something went wrong with this 12" for sure as the tracklisting announces three tracks but only two are included. No matter what "Bass To Make Your Booty Move" is a simple, but very effective and stick-in-your-ear tune that works with NuSkoolBreaks-addicts as well with all other kind of club-goers due to a seductive hook line and DJ Assault's trademark raps which are not that explicit as one might have expected. "Handz Up *Stanton Warriors Remix" is featured as "Westbam VIP Edit" on the flip - proper functional quality but not sticking out that much.

04. Patrick Chardronnet - Rhythm & Soul [Two Birds 005]
Some jackin' TechHouse with a quite uptempo feeling to it pressed on a snow white 10". A release that would've well fitted to the Poker Flat-catalogue as well, even more when turning to the flip and seeing Jackmate on remix duties.

05. Saalschutz - Entweder Saalschutz [Audiolith Promo]
See review for details...

06. Raw Trax For Smooth People [RDLGI 001]
One sided 12", limited to 300 hand-numbered copies. Includes two tracks of freaky House music for those who know. While WLDBTCH's "Dr. Vinyl's Groove (That Just Won't Stop)" is a banging bitch of track D.A.W.I.'s "Blofunk (African Dub)" is on a deeper tip with an ever modulated vocal sample. One of these records only to be played in very special moments when an experience crowd is already on fire and needing only an additional ounce of musical madness to go wild. Recommended and soon to be sought after.

07. Arto Mwambe [LARJ]
LARJ is short for "Live At Robert Johnson" and although I'm not quite sure whether these tracks really have been played live at this venue or not there's no doubt that they will be well appreciated by DeepHouse enthusiasts allover the place due to their warm and embracing feel. Plus: "One Lonely Knight (Extended Live Mix)" is about to please all those who love classic Inner City-chords or the recent of producers like Joris Voorn or Jeroen Verheij. True anthem.

08. John Tejada - Sweat (On The Walls) *The Remixes [Poker Flat Classics 001 Promo]
See review for details...

09. Alland Byallo - Discovaries [Poker Flat Recordings 115 Promo]
See review for details...

10. Aloe Blacc - I Need A Dollar [Stones Throw / Universal Promo]

The Strange Death Of Liberal England - Drown Your Heart Again [Devil Duck Records 033 Promo]

As announced on these pages before The Strange Death Of Liberal England have put out their first ever longplayer via Devilduck Records on october 22nd, a nice ten track piece aiming at a crossover audience of Indie kids and Wave lovers which has been produced by Dave Allen, a guy that laid his hands at the controls for the legends like The Chameleons, Depeche Mode or The Cure before. Such influences are not evident but at least recognizable in the sound of The Strange Death Of Liberal England which is swinging between dancefloor and melancholia, focusing on each of or sometimes both of these aspects in one single song. Even though "Drown Your Heart Again" is not an easy accessible album it can be regarded as one that is able to grow as times goes by and will be even loved more in a few years be those who have one as it is now.

Saalschutz - Entweder Saalschutz [Audiolith Promo]

It's been four long years since the Switzerland-based band Saalschutz released their first ever longplayer via Audiolith Records followed up by a period of musical silence and only very few concerts here and there. But now they're back, more Punk-flavored than ever, ready to devastate dancefloors, destroy venues and break some necks of headbanging punters. Somehow this bunch of rave punks does exactly know how to combine their Punk-influences with epic, partly kitsch-induced electronic music resulting in a high voltage fusion contrasting their special vocalist style which is a combination of singing, shouting and spoken word / raps - all in german with a bit of swiss accent. As their fans have been waiting for that long this piece is about to fly off the stores shelves quite quickly - grab one now as this might be gone quickly. Need one track to check out? "Ein Mensch Brennt" is my personal favorite tune on this 36+ a bit minute album.

EIN MENSCH BRENNT by SAALSCHUTZ

Culcha Candela - Move It [Homeground Records]

German Reggae-/Dancehall-/Crossover-/Pop-phenomenon Culcha Candela have a new single on the circuit these days entitled "Move It" which can be described as fusion of their usual vocalist styles and quite mainstream ElectroPop influenced by the likes of Daft Punk in their early days, Modjo and David Guetta - stuff for commercial clubs and major radio stations. Two remixes are provided by no-one less than Mr. Tocadisco, one of the kings of glitzy ElectroHouse due to his ability to make the girls move on the dancefloor. They will for sure, but in mainstream places.
