Proxy - Music From The Eastblock Jungles Pt. 1 [Turbo Recordings Promo]

From Russia via Canada to the world. That's a long story short when it comes to the musical works of Proxy who sees his debut album "Music From The Eastblock Jungles - Pt. 1" released via Turbo Recordings on November 5th which is a massive 11 track piece clearly influenced by the classic UK and European Rave scene of the nineties - see: "Raven (Original 08)" - with its huge hoover basslines, epic arrangements and full on attitude, high energy 90s House but also by contemporary NuRave / ElectroHouse with a big room / stadium feel. And surprisingly, although Proxy was never able to experience the energy of the original raves in person due to being stuck in the geostrategic trap that living in the middle of Russia is, his powerful vision of how to work thousands of people within only a few seconds of a tune perfectly fits in there, climaxing in the stunning anthem "Dance In The Dark" serving a combination of sweet female vox and baaad basslines as well as in the oppressive HorrorRave of "Raja Gaja" that seems to stem from deep within your darkest nightmare. Ultra massive and one of the most utterly banging albums released these days.

Duality Micro / Sascha Müller & eVADE - Recycled Tapes Vol. 4 [Pharmacom Records]

Put on the circuit via Pharmacom Records these days is the fourth part of the limited to 15 copies per release "Recycled Tapes"-series which is released as enhanced edition including a recycled tape plus an additional 3.5" computer disc carrying two low-res mp3 files. Starting off with the 3.5" first which contains the tracks "Broken  Stick" and "Start" yb Sascha Müller & eVADE, the first one of these being an epic and shamanic vision of lo-fi House with dreamy, trancey elements that kinda remind me of an old and worn out early 90s DJ mixtape played and copied a gazillion times but still spreading fragments of that special spirit it used to hold in its heydays whilst the second one focuses on a wrecked, abstract but still recognizable motor city vibe and could well stem from the studio of Hieroglyphic Being / The Sun God and his fellow musicians and unveils, after all these years, a new flavour that hasn't been heard in Sascha Müllers musical work so far. Quite a surprise that's spread out over a playtime of 10+ minutes. Talking the tape the A-side sees Duality Micro serving four parts and one edit of his tune "Ontmo", starting out with the so-called "Asi Edit" which is a dry, fast and hectic lesson in MonoAcid and followed by parts 1 - 4 which are keeping up with the dry vibe as well but acting out in rather a technoid area although Acid is felt here as well. If you've been feeling Steve Stolls production under his Datacloud moniker this one's made for you. On the flip Sascha Müller & eVADE are starting things with their track "Hidden Bassline" before catering three more versions of "Broken Stick" which are keeping up with the shamanic vibe but in more trancey and / or uptempo variations. Defo a good and for sure a rare one. Watch out.

Siouxsie & The Banshees - Cities In Dust (Live Video)

Just picked up their "Cities In Dust" 12" featuring the extended version of this song at some Hamburg flea market the other week for 2 Euro. Totally love that song for a reason.

Sascha Müller - Command Module [Super 6 Records SSRCD002]

Due for release on November 27th and put on the circuit via Super 6 Records is Sascha Müllers "Command Module" album, a twelve tracks journey into the realms of distorted, experimental Techno with a Brighton'esque feel, dry Techno bangers and - no surprises here as we're talking about Mr. Müller himself - bubbling, mind twisting MonoAcid. Plus: a few variations on HyperSpeedHouse. Especially the straight and stripped down Techno pieces are reminiscing of times when Cisco Ferreira and his The Advent project were still following the paths of demanding 140bpm and  club nights were not only club nights but full body workouts to a certain extent. Imagine these tracks hammering through the massive P.A. of the old Tresor club and you'll immediately know that these are good, powerful tools to tantalize dancefloor crowds for their very own pleasure.

Dr Walker & Liquid Sky Berlin Special

Only a few days ago Berlins long time electronic music activist ed2000 did a special feature on my old friend Dr Walker & his Liquid Sky Berlin collective in his "EDs WORLD OF MUSIC" radioshow transmitted via bln.fm which is now available for public pleasure.

The show features not only great music with rich, saturated bassdrums which gain mad momentum throughout the 60 minutes running time but also information bits and pieces on Dr Walker past & recent doings as well as musical influences and such, all provided by the well-charming host ed2000 who did an email interview with Walker before recording the show.

Lyrical Prophets

Inspired by twitter chat just going on with Brent of Aquasky discussing 90s Britcore and Hardcore HipHop which ended up in throwing names and links back and forth I've been just been scanning the internet for files of a German band named Lyrical Prophets which have been pioneering these sounds on Germany's most northern island Sylt throughout the mid 90s. Their full biography and all soundfiles can be found at the Underground United homepage and I decided to pick two of their songs I really like to represent their sound spectrum.

"Northside" is one of their faster joints and pretty close to the original Britcore feel whilst "Der Norden" is a slow, 808-driven HipHop jam, spit in German language and fueled with hatred and anger.

Please click the track names to listen to the tunes.

baze.djunkiii meets Voluntary Whores

News have it that baze.djunkiii is about to have a new release coming up approx. in early 2013 on the freshly founded Ambient / Noize / Experimental tape only label Voluntary Whores that puts out releases in a limited to 40 copies only quantity and has released its cat.no. 001 just yet.

Although baze.djunkiii is not involved in the musical part of the production of this forthcoming release by any means he's an essential part of the concept as he sees two of his texts / fragments / lyrical works turned into music by one of the labels core artists for the first time ever.

After the recent release of his PINK MINIMALISM 7" this is baze.djunkiii's next step into the world of art and conceptual releases crossing over into the realms of other art forms and formats. More news to come.

Kasper Björke - Bohemian Soul [HFN Music 021 Promo]

Only released today via Hamburgs hfn music is Kasper Björkes latest single "Bohemian Soul" which he recorded alongside the Danish long time Pop stallions Laid Back. Three reworked versions of the title track are to be found on this one - the "Still Going Remix" on the A-side is serving a dark'ish but Rave-influenced variation that reminds me of Yello as well of Underworlds massive uber-hit "Rez" with its ever floating meandering synth figures and trademark vocals meant to set the roof on fire at primetime occasions whilst the "Adana Twins 'On A Cloudy Day' Remix" is flirting with decent DeepHouse flavours, sweet chords and nicely built string arrangements accompanying the grating synth motif. Finally the "Tambien Remix" is on a deep tip as well but acts out on a slower tempo and combines its blurry vibes with a krauty feel and ritual percussion works that seem to be either live recorded in the studio or, maybe more likely, sampled from a documentary on aboriginal ceremonies taking place in largely unexplored parts of this planet. Nice one.

Sibylle Berg - Vielen Dank Für Das Leben

Haven't found the time to read Sibylle Berg's recent book yet but really enjoyed her public reading performance live at Kampnagel / Hamburg tonite. Big up.

The Lonely Boy Of November

Anybody seen this ?

Intrauterin Tapes Is Out Of Business

After the very last copy of Intrauterin Tapes sold today from the shelves of Hamburg's Otaku Records it is now time to announce that this sub-/ sister label of Intrauterin Recordings is officially out of business now and will not be releasing a cat.no. 009 ever - a fact that has been pretty clear after releasing the eighth volume of tapes in a time when CDr mixes replaced the good old audio cassette tape by numbers but has never been stated that clearly although there hasn't been a new release on Intrauterin Tapes since 2004 now.

All the labels backstock is cleared apart from archive copies and it's a nice fact to know that the last copy is travelling to Russia with a bunch of guys when they leave town again. A few tape copies have been donated to the skate scene in Cuba as well some time ago.

As far as we know a very limited run of tapes is still available through the Shhhhop and via Minor Mailorder which seem to experience some website trouble today but will hopefully back up soon.

A few statistics - Intrauterin Tapes 001 was a limited run of 50 copies only and sold out within the first two weeks after release. Intrauterin Tapes 002 - 008 were limited to 100 copies per catalogue number. That's quite a bunch of cassettes floating around somewhere... .

The full length version of David Sardelles (a.k.a. Jean Bach a.k.a. Leprozid Strick/Pfahl a.k.a. Jette a.k.a. Sascha Schierloh a.k.a. the founder of the Littlebrutalravebastards that once took the world by storm via Intrauterin Recordings & Dhyana Records ...) track "Hach, nun, wo Mutter abgereist ist, wer putzt, kocht, wäscht jetzt?" is to be found on the free CD sampler coming with the November issue of the German Goth / Wave / Industrial magazine Orkus and it's going to fuck up your eardrums with some serious RhythmAcid and Industrial Cutcore but I know you'll love that.

baze.djunkiii Charts 10/2012

01. The Fresh & Onlys - Long Slow Dance [Souterrain Transmissions 033]
Instant classic I stumbled upon when reviewing stuff for FAZE magazine's August issue and totally loved it, not only for the involvement of Wymond Miles who has been featured in my monthly chart before. The Fresh & Onlys cater a garage-y PostIndie / PostWave feel with a bit of campfire attitude, sweet but lively melancholia and an overall blurryness that perfectly accompanies the state of my heart these days. Make sure to check out the thrilling PostIndie anthem "Fire Alarm" if you're about to set your floor on fire literally as well as "Foolish Person" on B4 position which is a blueprint of what might be named as Rock-flavored PostGoth somewhen in future times.

02. Bratze - Highlight [Audiolith Promo]
See review for details...

03. B. Fleischmann - I'm Not Ready For The Grave Yet [Morr Music 119]
I already reviewed an early bird pre-release copy of "I'm Not Ready For The Grave Yet" in the August issue of FAZE magazine but felt like I should add the full release vinyl to my collection before charting it. B.Fleischmann caters all lovers of intimate Electronic Shoegaze, decent Electronics, Indietronics or whatever you name with an excellent album piece that one should love and play on a daily basis until its worn out only to buy a new copy then. Which I'd love to do, especially for the secret hits "Beat Us", the cynical "Your Bible Is Printed On Dollars" and the speedy, Drum'n'Bass-flavored "Some / Others / My Husband" that are all witty and of heartwarming quality music- and lyricwise. Sweet.

04. Ulna - Ligment [Karl Records Promo]
Another one that has been sitting in my post box amongst the latest FAZE promos for review mailout and is the only album which has been rated 10/10 when it comes to my contributions to the recent issue. Available as CD format only and limited to a run of 222 copies this one announces the return of the ultimate Phonk in what might be filed under the flag of Advanced Electronic Music. Partly Electronica / IDM, partly Electro like quite a few of the early Skam releases were - remember "Phonok: Remixes" or "This" -, sporting a deep as fuck attitude and suiting any reasonable dancefloor that hasn't been brought up on a straight diet of life- and loveless 4/4 drums. Pure pleasure for the leftfield, abstract minded headz out there coze Ulna are catering a long lost feel and one can surely feel that they do it from the heart. Get.

05. Die Else Girls - Pop In Der Frisur [iRRland 004]
What a weird release this limited to 300 copies 7" is. (No)Wave meets Artschool meets NDW meets Dada - a song about a hairdo and a spaced out uptempo DiscoHouse-induced remix by Flavio Diners featured on the flip. Totally recommended. Me likey.

06. Kreayshawn - Something 'Bout Kreay [Columbia Promo]
A detailed review on this album is published in the recent issue of German FAZE magazine which defo celebrates the musical work of the new web 2.0-star Kreayshawn who mashes up any kind of dance these days with her new major-signed album, no matter if it's Booty Bass, HipHop, Dancehall, Grime, NuRave or BMore / Favela Funk without running out of ideas or energy over the albums runtime of approx. 45 minutes. Plus: compared to her comrades in arms like Diplo she keeps away from hyper compressed sawtooth basslines and ultraventilating information overdose thinking of gazillions of sonic events per split second. Although her tracks are buzzing and busy as bees no-one feels exhausted or even annoyed after listening to at least the half of "Something 'Bout Kreay" which is good. Kreayshawn is one to put on the ultimate watchlist these days, even more if you're in love with female Grime acts like Shystie. Hot stuff and I expect "Go Hard" to be on heavy rotation like everywhere soon 'coze it's an excellent example how Pop and underground meet ends for the win.

07. Kambo Super Sound - Kambo Dub Station / Don Papa - Dans Hall Dub [Sex Tags Amfibia 013]
The Sex Tags Mania offspring Sex Tags Amfibia is coming up with sth. fully unexpected for me these days - a 7" that caters classic, high quality DubHouse in its original meaning straight out of the studio of Kambo Super Sound and a sweet DigiDancehall riddim created by Don Papa. Especially the first mentioned tune totally sticks out as I haven't come across proper DubHouse since the mid- to late 90s when I was partying hard to the massive bass vibes spread by Hamburg's finest Fat Back Soundsystem which still are my reference point when it comes to being introduced to Dub and soundsystem culture. For me these days are filled with sweet memories and this is the main reason why this nice little sucker sits in my collection right now.

08. Om Unit - Aeolian [Civil Music 038]
Om Unit is firing guns again, this time going way deeper than with previous releases and exploring new realms with his five track strong "Aeolian EP". Musically somewhere in between Dubstep, bass driven Electronica and some Downtempo- / TripHop-influences all of them tunes work well with advanced punters on the dancefloor with "Dark Sunrise" sticking out as brightest and most remarkable piece due to an ultra dope beat in combination with the sweet vocal effort of Tamara Blessa. A perfect closing tune? For sure. Another guest appearance of long time Dubstep producer Kromestar is to be found on the flip - "Lightworker's Call" is the name of the tune which can be described as spaced out, string loaden work of instrumental ScifiHop killing every dancefloor with its massive, all-embracing bass and a sweet little melody that is about to be stuck in everyones eardrums for sure.

09. Sascha Müller - Musikalische Science Fiction Impressionen [Pharmacom Records Promo]
See review for details...

10. Unbalance - Unbalance #5 [Unbalance 005 Promo]
A detailed review of this 12" is to be found in the recent issue of FAZE magazine as well - cat.no. 005 on this artist led and focused label that caters dark Techno with a quite hypnotic approach that's accompanied and created by metallic, kinda Tribal-sounding percussion elements building up tension continually on the A-side. The flipside focuses on dark, grinding and defo Industrial-flavored BrokenTechno, kicking off with a cold but dense athmosphere that includes some astoundingly oriental-sounding sample work one wouldn't have expected from the tracks mechanoid intro - that's what I'd call a proper contrast.

Documentary On Rave Culture 1991

Another near to antique video I stumbled upon by chance featuring UK Hardcore heroes The Prodigy and Altern8 as well as Detroit originator Kevin Saunderson in their younger years.  Four minutes and a bit. Enjoy.
