Stefan Smulovitz - Bow & Brush: 12 Scores Of Nadina Tandy [Redshift Records]

Another fresh release on the ever active Redshift Records label is "Bow & Brush: 12 Scores Of Nadina Tandy", the latest and November 15th, 2k24-released album outing by Stefan Smulovitz who seems to be some kind of jack of all trades or renaissance man in terms of music and arts with activities as composer, viola player, electronic musician and many more under his belt. With this roughly 42 minutes spanning album piece Stefan Smulovitz interpretes and plays a set of twelve musical one page scores created by visual artist Nadina Tandy as a quasi follow up to their first chance collaboration in 2k21. The sonic result of this interdisciplinary work pairs beautiful reverberating Modern Classical string melancholia with Field Recordings of what seem to be small waves hitting the shore on a calm day at "The Pier" whilst the subsequent nocturnal but scintillating piece "Perseids" adds a foundation of amorphous and rather harsh digital low frequency morphings to otherwise airy and corresponding multi-layered harmonic movements, "Alectoria Sarmentose" explores the sounds of the universe in a manner reminiscent of both classic Berlin School krautsiness as well as cold, yet spatial early to mid-80s Synthbient for interplanetary journeys, "Owl Watching" turns out to be a rather brooding and danger heralding affair, catering droning, klaxon'esque pulses, slow tectonic movements and an almost ritualistic, dark and demon summoning atmosphere followed by the quintessentially dark and outworldly "Sea Lion Swims", another vantablack crossover between Modern Composition and what could be described as Dark Ambient. With "Quartz Veins" we see the album reaching a fever'ish peak directly connecting with primeval instincts and the listeners reptilian brain not only due to the underlying heartbeat-like rhythm signatures whereas the brightly shimmering and most dramatic "Turtle Listening" seems to sow Contemporary Classical hope like the first sunshine breaking through the clouds after a heavy storm before "Gumboot Time" deeply indulges in naturalistic atmospheres layered on top of heavy Industrial Electronics x sci-fi IDM for a change just to name a few favorites here. A recommended album for both fans of Contemporary Classical and Deep Listening Electronics alike.

Dan Fortin - Cannon [Elastic Recordings]

Put out on the circuit via Elastic Recordings, his very own imprint, on November 8th, 2k24 is "Cannon", the latest album outing conceived by Hamilton, Ontario based composer x bass player Dan Fortin who, over the course of ten pieces and a total runtime of roughly 42 minutes, explores the soundscape of his electric bass in mostly duo settings alongside a wide range of contributing artists and a plethora of instruments including, yet not limited to piano, synths, electric baritone guitar, e-drums, human whistling and others. Throughout these excursions Fortin and his collaborators are touching base with dreamy, almost esoteric Ambient / Berlin School vibes driven by twangy electric guitar improvisations in the opening piece "Uh Hundred" whereas the subsequent "Act II" features playful, unscathed bass motifs accompanied by almost random eruptions of off-kilter synth tones and various Field Recordings as well as raw primeval metallic rhythms buried deep within the mix whereas the "Allium Tower" opens on a noisy, seemingly Rhythm Industrial-infused tip only to morph into caressing, albeit not undisturbed, harmonic and resonating low end bass repetitions alongside cold, contrasting, exoterrestrial and well psychedelic space synths of unclear, and probably also unsettling, origin whilst pieces like the "Eastern School Of The Ural Mountains" pair jazzed out bass improvisations with droning glacial Ambient movements to a calming widescreen panorama effect and the final cut that is "Sparkwood" even indulges in deep, almost rural Folk etudes just to name a few. File under: Organic Deep Listening Music for Future Jazz lovers.

Nicola Miller - Living Things [Cacophonous Revival Recordings 025]

Put out on the circuit via the American imprint that is Cacophonous Revival Recordings as their cat.no. 025 on December 13th, 2k24 is "Living Things", the most recent album outing cooked up and conceived by Canadian saxophone player x composer Nicola Miller. Alongside a hand-picked and tightly knit group of friends and fellow musicians including names like Nike Fraser and Frank Gratkowski amongst others Nicola Miller envisions a deep and distinctly personal take on Jazz as a genre, opening with the slow, droning and klaxon'esque, yet highly detailed nocturnal DarkJazz of "Barge" and its seemingly random, yet carefully placed metallic percussion backings subsequently followed by the rather playful, tongue-in-cheek and swinging "Night Crawlers" which presents a new angle applied to a, originally, rather traditional Jazz approach before, over its rather extended runtime, fully fragmenting and falling apart in a controlled improvisational environment. Furthermore we see pieces like "Bufflehead" indulging in almost tragic, overly exaggerated melancholia, reminding us of great drama and vintage monochrome movies from the days of yore whereas the title track "Living Things" might be the one closest to what most uninitiated ppl refer to as classic Jazz on this album despite its slighty twisted nature and complex uptempo sequences whereas "Seagulls" turns into a slightly mischievious excursion into rather funky, slightly Future Tribal-infused polyrhythms accompanied by yearning, sustained and off-kilter eruptions just to name a few. One album for the dedicated Jazz aficionados out there.

Mikolaj Trzaska / Ingebrigt Haker Flaten / Paal Nilssen-Love - The Last Temple Vol. 2 [Gusstaff Records]

Put out on the circuit via the ever growing Polish label that is Gusstaff Records on November 22nd, 2k24 is "The Last Temple Vol. 2", the CD part of an actually three different formats spanning meta album conceived by Mikolaj Trzaska, Ingebrigt Haker Flaten and Paal-Nilssen-Love. Rolled out over the course of roughly 53 minutes and two extended pieces - "Nothing Small Like This" and "March Of Pagan" - this longplayer represents an excerpt from a concert the triumvirate of artists played in Krakow / Poland in March of 2k24, exploring the wild, untamed and fast-paced landscapes of Free Jazz x Free Improv, focusing on wild sax rides which can be still traced and connected back to more traditional Jazz territories whilst bass and drums provide a muscular, oftentimes thundering and almost fever'ish backdrop only retreating into intricately arranged minimalist sequences for short periods of time before building up to noisy and intense heights again whereas the second piece starts out from an angle of dreamy, yearning and melancholia-inducing sax improvisations which, the further the piece progresses, are spiralling up to screaming, hounded heights once again supported and backed by the groups signature drum and bass works, even though this piece also leans into quieter and more stripped down nocturnal Jazz realms as well. Intense, yet seductive.

Dan Pitt Quintet - Horizontal Depths [self-released album]

Another more recent, and most importantly self-released, album from the buzzing Canadian music scene is "Horizontal Depths", the latest longplayer cooked up by composer and guitarist Dan Pitt and his musical companions which, as an obvious group of five, are forming the Dan Pitt Quintett. Put out on the circuit on November 1st, 2k24 the eight compositions and roughly 41 minutes spanning album explores a musical arc spanning from the Jazz-infused, funky, yet well muscular intro turning full on dramatic and Psychedelia savvy electric guitar improv session that is the opener "27 Hours" with its highly seductive sax motif to the twangy late night vibes of the subsequent "Horizontal Depths Part One", the tender, stripped down and carefully arranged caressing and intricate romanticisms layered in the beauteous "The Sorrow" which might be a future classic in the making amongst Deep Jazz connaisseurs. Furthermore "Echo Park" caters hypnotically entangled guitar motifs in endless repetition, evoking memories of echoes of classic Krautrock at times, whilst "Tautology" presents a perfect score for late fall evenings spent in front of an open fire and the final cut named "Lester Sleeps In" rounds things off in a rather calm, most tender manner just to name a few. Defo an album speaking to both experienced Jazz aficionados as well as to those just wanting to enjoy and listen to deep and beautiful music for what is without going into technical intricacies and minute sonic detail at all. Go check.

Sam Cosmic - Smic / Soukah - H2O [WobWob 007]

Scheduled for release on January 26th, 2k25 via the Hamburg-based WobWob camp is their next highly limited - and hot pink... - split 7" release which marks the addition of two new artists to the labels ever growing roster. On the info side we see Sam Cosmic cooking up "Smic", a tune which oozes a dark'ish, clean, nocturnal and hyperurban vibe which, in parts, takes veterans of the scene back to the atmospheres built and conceived by DJ Distance on his seminal 2007 debut "My Demons" whilst Soukah's "H2O" brings forth a denser, earth- and dancefloor-shaking peaktime approach, almost drowning Dubstep floors in intense, ever meandering sawtooth basslines atop sparse halftime beats accompanied by a beloved and well familiar vocal snippet which has been used and abused in many iterations of whatever 'bass music' existed at the time and therefore became a staple in soundsystem culture over the course of three or more decades. Good stuff.

Christopher Whitley - Almost As Soft As Silence [self-released album]

Out on the circuit since November 1st, 2k24 is "Almost As Soft As Silence", the latest - and self-released... - album outing conceived by Canadian composer and violin player Christopher Whitley who, over the course of roughly half an hour, presents a set of fifteen solo improvisations, all recorded at St. Stephen's Church in Belvedere and performed on a classic Stradivari violin dating back to the year 1700. This fact alone might catch the attention of the dedicated fan and follower of Modern Classical x Contemporary Classical music, yet even more astounding is the fact that this album is an unedited single take real time recording - a technical and conceptual approach rarely present in today's musical environment anymore, no matter what genre, style or other sub-section of music one might think of. This being said, the album captures somewhat of an essence of where Christopher Whitley stands today, both in expertly execution of his craft as a highly focused and technically skilled player as well as in his compositional spontaneity which is even recognizable by the classically inexperienced listener exposed to the deep and tender flow of pieces like "Patience" and its immediate follow up "For The Most Part", with "a5 b5 g5" evoking memories of rural dances of yore whereas "Song" providing quite a contrast with its intense, off-kilter tonality and harsh, at times almost brutalist bowing techniques, "Twelve" indulging in an ebb and flow of whirling high frequency details for a minute and "Echo Pasture" serving an expertly balanced interplay of sound and silence just to name a few. Quite a treat for all collectors of Contemporary Classical music out there.

Hasco Enjoyments - Wow! [Rope Worm 004]

Coming in from the highly appreciated Polish imprint that is Rope Worm these days is "Wow!", the first ever album instalment for the project named Hasco Enjoyments. Scheduled for release on January 18th, 2k25 this (mini)-album, rolled out over eight pieces and a total playtime of 26 minutes, sees John-Peter Hasson, the main force behind the outfit, and his plethora of collaborators - described in the accompanying press sheet as "...an ensemble of iridescent bubbles..." - going on a deep dive into dreamy, comforting, playful and imaginative sound spheres of mostly organic nature, paying homage to the sonic tapestry of New Age music as well as cheerful Easy Listening with brightly cascading cuts like "The Seattle Mariners Are My Favorite Baseball Team" whereas pieces like the subsequent "Finance, Fashion, Healthcare & Sports" focuses on slow Ambient relaxation in combination with somewhat cliche Quasian rhythm signatures and drifting electric guitar executions whereas "Executive Bonus" caters panoramic strings, tender guitar tones and admittedly slightly kitsch-y flutes as well as echoes of what could be described as a Jazz-leaning attitude just to name a few. If this seems to be right up your alley go and grab one of these limited edition CD albums which is also recommended to dedicated fans and followers of contemporary Library x Production Music for a reason.

Eldritch Priest - Dormitive Virtue [Halocline Trance 42]

Put out on the circuit via the Egyptixx-run Halocline Trance label on October 11th, 2k24 is "Dormitive Virtue", the latest album conceived for the imprint by Vancouver-based artist, writer and composer Eldritch Priest. Over the course of eight brand new pieces and a total runtime of a little more than 32 minutes Priest takes a deep dive into the realm of basically improvised solo guitar recordings only slightly influenced by the classical Jazz training he underwent decades ago, but capturing and recording the first live solo guitar performance he played in 35 years - in April of 2k23 somewhere in Vancouver's Chinatown. The result of this rather adventurous undertaking, with the live recording of what was planned to be a one-off show initially not intended for release at all, is quite a fascinating one, opening with the raw and feedback heavy, yet extremely detailed "Grave Needs, Rainbow" showcasing the technical intricacies of Priest's highly intuitive playing before the "Supposition Engine" cuts back in intensity, entering rather calm, soft and comforting, probably even romantic quasi Jazz terrain. The subsequent "A Problem With The Stars" follows on a rather similar path, evoking memories of a hot summer sun setting over vast pastures whereas "Outlaw" takes this feel to a slightly more twangy and dynamic level, taking a few odd musical turns and unexpected delays every now and then due to its improvisational nature and "Iris", originally composed by Wayne Shorter, indulges in slightly wobbly and vintage sounding late night guitar beauty. Furthermore "The Ghastly" dabbles with rather dreamy, extended and probably Prog-influenced solos of a quite widescreen panoramic nature, "A Gilded Madman" weighs in a short exploration of detailed, Jazz-informed Free Improv before the title-bearing cut "Dormitive Virtue" harks back to a rather calm and mostly inward looking perspective once again for a closing. One for die-hard solo guitar enthusiasts, this one is.

Sascha Müller - Programm 2 EP [Psychocandies 124 Promo]

Put out on the digital circuit via the long-standing Psychocandies label on September 10th, 2k24 is Sascha Müller's "Programm 2 EP", the next two track outing by the Uelsen-based producer and label head. With the title track that is "Programm 2" Mr. Müller presents a bouncy, well uplifting take on Acid-infused Techno goodness based upon expertly sculpted bass drums and a well seductive, ever looped and filtered latino vocal snippet for ecstatic peaktime floors, followed by the slow moving, ever spiralling Acid Grunge of "The Silence" which, due to its grainy lo-fi sound, sharp hi-hats and subduded cow bells, would've been a well excellent addition to the catalogue of labels like Molecular Funk Guerilla or DJungle Fever in the mid-noughties. Great stuff.

Peggy Lee & Cole Schmidt - Forever Stories Of: Moving Parties [Earshift Music 098]

Released via the Canadian label Earshift Music on November 15th, 2k24 is "Forever Stories Of: Moving Parties", the first collaborative album effort of long time friends and musical partners in crime Peggy Lee and Cole Schmidt as a core duo, collaborating with a wide circle of artists and musicians over the course of this roughly 53 minutes spanning longplayer and its fourteen pieces. Having worked together on several occasions and over many years, which includes playing in each others respective bands alongside various other projects, Lee and Schmidt are exploring a wide range of sounds on this project, starting from an angle of deep, calm, comforting and romantic late night Jazz slow jams with the opening cut "Blame" to the almost Balearic Downtempo vibe of "It Will Come Back" and its tender Spoken Word performance whereas "Mercy" seems to be flirting with folksy, rural vibes as well as echoes of Modern Classical. Furthermore "Try To Waltz" and its repetetive, yet ever changing twangy guitar lines turns out to be a rather thrilling and captivating, and also surprisingly dramatic..., affair whilst "Fallride" harks back to a more tender tonality, floating and once again backed and accompanied by seductive Spoken Word sequences before "For Ron Miles" could be described as a soft, piano-driven instrumental ballad touched by New Age and comforting Easy Listening just to name a few. Defo a well comforting album for cold winter nights.

RZWD - Gaps [Gusstaff Records]

Put out on the circuit via the ever buzzing Polish label Gusstaff Records on November 15th, 2k24 is "Gaps", the third full length album recording cooked up by the Wroclaw-Torun based NoiseRock outfit RZWD revolving around the bands core duo comprised of Szymon Szwarc and Damian Kowalski alongside a respective, and obviously changing, set of collaborating musicians. Their latest longplay release, a set of eight tracks rolled out over the course of roughly 44 minutes, leads RZWD into a conceptual approach of further evolving musical ideas which sprung to life throughout a countless set of shows played in Lithuania, Germany, Esgtonia and the Czech Republic, transforming and morphing these rough sequences into a shape both suitable for a band as well as a dance music leaning context, the latter especially when it comes to creating remixes or new versions of pre-existing material. The result of this sonic venture immediately leads RZWD into screaming, Techno-infused Industrial territories with "Diesel V3 feat. Danielus Pancerovas", a tune in which the 4/4-based drums are slowly, yet steadily drowned out by irl drum excesses and heavy guitar feedbacks, the captivating rhythms and seductive grooves of "Euro Track V2 feat. K. Freeze O." which seems both suitable for unpolished experimental PostPunk / (No)Wave dancefloors as well as for ritualistic Future Tribal dances taking place in a world shaped by post-nuclear desolation and despair whereas the so-called "Outskirt Dub" indeed touches on Dub techniques within the realm of NoiseRock, albeit in a slightly Sherwoodian manner whilst "Trigger Fitt V2" even incorporates elements of FreeJazz x Noise Jazz x Free Improv and "Mutter Coke" caters a whirling maelstrom of an intro both reminiscent of Drum'n'Bass-infused subs as well as dystopian warfare and washed out, overwhelmingly intense Sludge Metal x Doom Noise just to name a few. An album recommended for the headstrong and mentally stable.

Sascha Müller - Jupiter Jazz EP [Dancefloor Socialism 030 Promo]

Released via the ever active digital imprint Dancefloor Socialism as their cat.no. 030 on September 3rd, 2k24 is Sascha Müller's "Jupiter Jazz E.P." which, once again, sees the Uelsen-based producer cooking up another two track single for the label. Opening with the title track "Jupiter Jazz" Mr. Müller brings forth a killer take on TechTrance-infused Rave Techno sporting twisted, ever spiralling midrange synth modulations and dubbed out stabs reminiscent of Steve Mason sets ca. 1994, later backed by panoramic strings, uplifting risers and a slightly psychedelic touch, subsequently followed by the darker, faster and more brooding sonic angle of "U SPIN" which aims into a similar direction over all, yet adds driving claps, slow, yet psyched out LFO rides and transdimensional synth shifts for a hounded - and haunted... - peaktime Tech crowd pumping away under relentlessly firing hyperstrobe attacks.

Autoclav1.1 - Coral Bleaching EP [Audiophob]

Put out on the cassette circuit via Mühlheim's Audiophob label on August 23rd, 2k4 as well is Tony Young's a.k.a. Autoclav1.1's "Coral Bleaching EP", the accompanying sister release to his "Diamondbackviper" album released on the same day. With this additional four track EP we see Autoclav1.1 providing a floating take on perfectly arranged Ambient structures hovering beyond the realm of space and time with the opening cut "White Into Amber" whereas the darker, stripped down title track indulges in moody, minimalist Dark Ambient melancholia and frosty soundscapes blown over from afar, crossing barren lands and icey planes before being captured on tape. Furthermore "Farewell Glaciers" weighs in solemn, inward-looking and surely nocturnal Ambient movements before the closing cut that is "Eventide" is as brittle, glistening and beautiful as Ambient might get in the second half of 2k24. Highly recommended for all fans of cassette-based Deep Listening Music, this.

2020 - 19 [2020 Records 019 Promo]

Put out on the digital circuit on August 20th, 2k24 is "19", the next in a consecutively numbered album series cooked up by the supposed label head 2020. With four tracks named "Omega I - IIII" (sic!)" the quasi-anonymous artist provides a quadruple set of Deep Listening Music starting with the almost 29 minutes spanning sonic whiteout of "Omega I" which is backed by deep and quasi-rhythmic low frequency movements whereas "Omega II" continues the journey in an even more time dissolving, droning and washed out manner, probably best described as Glacial Ambient if one needs to take a deep dive into sub-subgenres. Furthermore "Omega III" brings forth a slightly denser, more brooding and somewhat danger-heralding take on what could be described as Dark Ambient before "Omega IIII" fully indulges in mind-numbing, structureless, mid-range-focused, hostile and icey, minimalist Cold Ambient fog slowly transforming into warmer and more comforting Ambient goodness for a closing.

Dr. Noisem & Dr. Walker - Liquid Sky Berlin Ambient Session (Live) [self-released lathe cut]

Incoming at the very end of the last year was the "Liquid Sky Berlin Ambient Session (Live)", probably the last ever recorded live session released physically to emerge from the now long defunct Liquid Sky Berlin artist collective. Put out on the circuit independently as a highly limited transparent lathe cut 12" the session in question sees Noize guru Dr. Noisem team up with Dr. Walker of Air Liquide fame for an extended journey into an intense and alienating Cold Ambient drones, a sonic trip into the mind-numbing white-out experience of antarctic blizzards only interrupted by even more unsettling and outerworldly tones resembling the indescript and horrifying proto-communication of humungous creatures from the outerworld before fully turning into percussive, reverberating and metallic Industrial Improv for future sci-fi cults. Furthermore the subsequent flipside tune starts on a rather pulsating level in terms of experimental Deep Listening Music and sees its hypnotic soundwaves accompanied, and later replaced, by near-field recorded metallic grating and the sonic equivalent of sci-fi laser weapons firing energy beams before being buried by heavy Noise build-ups, distorted vocal experiments and electronic feedback buzzes. A collectors item for the advanced listener.

Autoclav1.1 - Diamondbackviper [Audiophob 043]

Coming in from the offices of the Mühlheim-based Audiophob label only recently is "Diamondbackviper", the August 23rd, 2k24-released CD album produced by Tony Young a.k.a. Autoclav1.1. Over the course of ten tracks and a total runtime of approx. 37 minutes Mr. Young explores a surprisingly deep, Ambient- and Synth-leaning sonic approach with the whirling, almost krautsy synth spirals of the opening tune "Spearmint Rocket" which is backed by muscular Electronica x Downtempo fusion beats followed by the almost playful, hyperchromatic and almost Vaporwave and CityPop infused fusion of "Home Made Nunchucks", the uplifting, well driving 4-2-the-floor foundation of the title track whereas "Big Valley BMX" in its rather calm and innocent vibe harks back to childhood summers all the way back in the 80s, an overall feel Autoclav1.1 is going for according to the accompanying press sheet. With "Shitty VIC20" we're presented with a hyperdense and intense, yet blurry variation of widescreen Vaporwave whereas the follow up "Abandoned Igloos At Midnight" is more of a floating, introvert, yet still shimmering Downtempo affair before "Asleep On Harmony Hill" to our surprise even seems to be flirting with (Neo)Trance / Melodic TechHouse and summer festival crowds. Furthermore "Hidden Paths To Beaumont Park" pairs trance-y, melodic build-ups and soft pads to an enchantingly beautiful effect before driving Breakbeat action evokes memories of the flourishing Chemical Breaks scene of yore, "The Coventry Eagle Has Landed" unfolds large scale panoramic sceneries for a change and the final cut named "Sallie James" even weighs in some chiming and contemplative, probably even festive vibes for a calm and beautiful closing. File under: hyperharmonic electronics for fans of Kavinsky, New Age and classic ChillOut floors.

baze.djunkiii Charts 01/2k25

01. King Kong - Come Down [Jah All Mighty 014]
What a bang0r and an essential re-issue for all fans of Reggae and DigiDub. Originally released in 2k12 with a mastering x engineering mishap leaving out the bassline on the b-side version the 2k24 re-release of "Come Down" presents the tune in all its intended glory, with the original full version being one of the most captivating, seductive, vibing, yet pleading Conscious Reggae cuts we've heard in quite a while whilst the stripped down riddim provides enough space for the essential elements in a late night club selection.

02. DJ Heartchore - In Love [Heartchore 001]
So it's late 1993 again. Well, actually it's not but this is how DJ Heartchore's debut release feels with its raw production approach, over the top Gabber x Happy Hardcore fusion vibe, fast tempo, continous Rave stab attacks, twisted synth tones and uplifting, yet hypercheesy vocoder breakdown sequence. Two versions on an one-sided 12" whitelabel for those who've been there when this sound hit the scene in the first place.

03. Overmono & The Streets - Turn The Page [XL Recordings]
"Turn The Page", the opening track from Mike Skinner's iconic The Streets debut album "Original Pirate Material" gets a proper 2k24 rework from Overmono on limited one-sided etched 12" vinyl who keeps close to the classic UK Garage vibe of the original tune for a start before adding super scenic string panoramas, overwhelming subs and glitched out, complex, junglistic beat breakdown sequences for the more advanced Bass Music dancefloors out there. File under: anthemic bass is anthemic.

04. Gasoline - Snap Your Neck Back EP [Beatsqueeze Records]
And finally... HipHop. On yellow 33rpm 7" vinyl. Intense, sample-heavy and scratch-loaden crime scene music. Both instrumental and fueled by razor sharp Rap vocals for those who still remember the golden age of the genre with tracks like these being played in intimate club settings like Hamburg's legendary Tempelhof alongside proper Street Soul cuts, Dope Beats, Jazz, Broken Beats and other goodness. This is pure gold.

05. Assembler Code & Jensen Interceptor - NRG LVLS [Trust 047]
The trusted Trust label from Austria is back with a new 12" release, catering a selection of four tracks cooked up in the studio by Assembler Code and Jensen Interceptor. The, well..., somewhat expected result of this conjunctional effort covers a sonic range from cold, banging uptempo sci-fi-infused Robo Electro to clean, 4-2-the-floor based ElectroTechno and deeper, slightly 'troity and sub-heavy Electro variations for those who know.

06. Tom Carruthers - Downtown Rhithms [L.I.E.S. Records 208]
Over the course of the past 12 months Tom Carruthers has unleashed a quite remarkable string of releases including "Downtown Rhithms" which provides an authentic and well seductive twelve track emulation of late 80s / early90s US House vibes garnished with sprinkles of classic AcidHouse and even HipHouse whilst also venturing into early DeepHouse and Balearic territories at times. This is as retro as it gets in contemporary House Music.

07. Minds At Large - Allsorts EP [Vinyl Fanatiks 066]
Originally released back in 1993 and now back on the scene as a limited to 350 copies vary-marbled 12" vinyl reissue courtesy of the Vinyl Fanatiks camp the "Allsorts EP" provides four tracks with a range from deep atmospheric Breakbeat Jungle and uplifting Jungle rollers to - most importantly - the iconic Darkside cut that is "Tunnel Vision" which surely features on of the most epic and recognizable synth line samples in the entire history of Jungle / Drum'n'Bass.
